Kadens POV
My eyes tried hard not to remain red for too long, "is it done?"
Giving a few sniffles, Jefferson nods "Yes..."
Giving a small grin, I yawn "Thanks for the update, I'll see you in the morning." Patting Jeffersons back, I walk down the hallway and enter my sleeping quarters. Jefferson lets a tear get loose and squeaks, "that bastard."

Crawling in bed, I lay my head down and try not to think of what I just started. Closing my eyes, darkness consumes me as a gentle breeze ruffles my curtains.

Emily's POV
"How long do you think she's going to be out?"
The doctor checks his clipboard and pushes his spectacles up his nose, "Depends. She suffered a lot head trauma, along with loss of blood. She might not wake up."
Putting his hand on top of mine, Gavin nods and sighs. "I never told her..."
The doctor looks at Gavin, then at me "I gave her some medicine for the pain."
Pausing at a brown door, the doctor adds, "it'll be a miracle if she wakes up." Exiting the room, Gavin mumbles "that's reassuring."
      * * *
My green eyes come face to face with my mother. Wearing a black dress, Elena Cordova smiled at her daughter. "Hello Emily, I'm glad you could join us."
"Mom?"
She nods, "it's me, sweetheart."
Enveloping her in my arms, tears come as I close my eyes. "I-I miss you, mother."
Consoling me, I push her back and look at where I am. Confused, I ask "am I dead?"
"No." Wearing her crown, she responds, " you're so beautiful." Grabbing my hands in hers, Elena strokes my hair back "you have your fathers eyes."
Biting my lip, I sigh and squeeze my mothers hand "you weren't there when I needed you, mom. You...or dad."
Letting go, her expression softens "I'm sorry Emily. I know I can't make up for lost time, but..."
A tear falls "but what?! You missed a lot of big moments in my life. I don't think I can forgive you for that."
"I understand the pain you went through. Your father and I were so happy when you were born," she smiles, "we had to take a big risk sending you to Louisville. They were after you, honey." A tear glides down my mothers cheek as she wipes it away "Believe me, I would never abandon you."

Carrying a birthday cake, Damaris Cordova clears his throat "happy birthday."
Turning my head to look at my father, my smile turns into a whimper. His green eyes glimmer with hope as I run up and smile, "thank you." Holding the cake, Damaris winks in my direction "make a wish."
Blowing them out, my mother puts a hand on my shoulder, "what did you wish for?"
Putting my arms across my parents, I kiss my moms cheek "doesn't matter anymore, it already came true."
Being 23 was a privilege, and also a challenge for me. Finally understanding who I am and what I'm meant to do, but I had so many more questions that I needed answers to. Wearing the blue amulet, I ask my mother, "where did I get this?"
Her eyes lock with the necklace for a second and chuckles, "You were too young to remember, but I gave you that when you were born."
"Why? Why did dad have to take me away from you in the first place?"
She takes my hand and squeezes it lightly "Emily, when you were born, it was the happiest day of our life. A man by the last name of Gardel came and killed me and wanted to kill you as well. Do you know the Gardel's?"
Finding this information intriguing, I slowly nod, "was it Kaden?"
Raising an eyebrow in confusion, she shakes her head "I don't think so. It was his uncle, honey. Kadens uncle is my brother."
Sucking in a deep breath, I rapidly shake my head from side to side "No, thats not right. He couldn't have been your bother. If he was, then..."
   Damaris intervenes "he's your cousin...surprise."
As I laugh, Elena looks at her husband with worry. Seeing they're not laughing, I stop "Your for real?"
Elena nods, "I'm sorry you had to find out this way. But, now you know."
Mumbling to myself, "I loved him," Damaris taps his leg with a finger, "what was that?"
Looking at my father, I speak softly "I loved him, and he tried to kill me."

Boiling with rage, I harshly speak "Kaden tried to murder me, but he was so nice when I first met him."
My father sat down beside me and exhaled, "sometimes, looks can be deceiving. That's why I tell you Em, never trust a Gardel."
Thinking of something to say, I respond "there is something you should know about Castor."
My mothers voice shifts to concern "what is it?"
My voice gets tangled up as I try to say, "his son has taken over."
