Emily's POV
Gavin walks across the room as he chews his granola bar. He checks the clock by the door, 5:40 pm. Looking over at the sleeping me, my monitor goes, "beep...beep...beep."
His head goes down as he sits in a chair across from where I lay. He smiles "remember that day where I saved your ass, and I also caught you eating that apple," he chuckles. "But, that was also the day where I met you."
He gulps and exhales "I'm not the best at communicating my feelings, but I like you. And I know we shared a bed and all," Gavin blushes "I have a small hunch that you like me too."

Putting his hand under mine, he softly mumbles "you're so beautiful."
He squeezes my hand lightly and blows hair out of his face, "I'm sorry I was such a jerk to you all those months ago. I never meant to hurt you." A tear escapes his right eye as it travels down his cheek. He bows his head in silent prayer and feels my hand lightly squeeze back. A smile appears on his face as his head lifts up just as the doctor enters.
"How is she doing?" The doctor asks.
Gavin's face looks confused "you're the doctor, you should know."
The doctor chuckles, " I was just testing you, calm down. She won't be in a coma for the rest of her life, so that's good."
Gavin's smile turns cold, "not funny doc."
The doctor exhales and takes out his stethoscope and places it under my shirt. He listens for a minute and nods, "She'll be fine. Just keep doing what you're doing, Mr?"
"Mdara."
"Well, Mr. Mdara, no need to worry. How long have you been up here?" Noticing the dark circles under my eyes, I clear my throat "since 10."
The doctor clicks his pen and writes something down, "Go home son". He rips off the paper and hands it to me "doctors orders."
Grinning at the paper, I turn my head at the girl laying in bed and slightly smile, "I'm fine Doc, got to stay with the patient."

The doctor mumbles and exits the door.
Gavin's eyes start to droop down, "maybe just a little nap." Sprawling out into the chair, he passes out and lets go of my hand.

"Why didn't you tell me any of this mom!" Clenching my fists, my mother is seated in a chair and sighs, "I'm sorry-"
"Stop saying you're sorry, that doesn't work anymore," as tears fill my eyes. "Your brother killed you, and you tried to keep that a secret from me?"
My father stands behind the chair, "I wanted to tell you, but this one over here," he monitions his head toward Elena, "didn't want you knowing."
Eyebrows knitting together, I press my forefingers to my lips, "and why not?"
"Stop asking questions and face the facts Emily, you need to be Queen and avenge my death," Elena demands.
     "But how?"
My father exhales as his green eyes sparkle, "all you have to do is wake up."
"I don't want to be apart from you again," I whine. My father opens his arms up as we meet in a loving embrace. Softly whispering, "it'll be fine, princess," my nails dig in to his back, not wanting to let go.
"I-I don't want to lose you again," my voice thickens.
Damaris strokes my hair and shushes me, "I'll be with you always, you know that."
"I know, I know."
Embracing my mother, she kisses my forehead and softly sings a tune that I recognize. Grinning, I hold her tight "I don't want to face reality right now, can't I just stay here for awhile?"
Chuckling, Elena tucks a strand of brown hair behind my ear, "I wish you could. But, that's not how life works Em. You have a wonderful guy waiting for you when you get back," she winks.
Blushing, I know it's Kaden as my eyes close. Smelling my mothers perfume, she undoes my hands and slowly walks back. Opening my eyes, I see a bright light start to envelop her, "Mom, wait!"
Everything turns a bright white and I close my eyes, just waiting for the hardships of reality to kick in.

Awakening from sleep, my eyelids flutter open and I glance back and forth. Seeing IV's in my left arm, I realize that I must be in a hospital. Moaning, I feel my forehead and close my eyes, why did I have to wake up with a pounding headache?
Whispering, "I love you," toward the sky, my head turns slightly to the right. Seeing ruffled, chocolate brown hair and his feet tossed out in front of him, I smile. "Wow, I can't believe Gavin came. I thought he didn't care."

Squeezing his hand gently, as not to disturb his slumber, I whisper "Gavin."
Not hearing what I'm saying, I mumble again "Gavin." Tracing my thumb over his knuckle, he slightly moans. Turning red, I try to rest and keep holding his hand, hoping for better days to come.
