Kaden's POV

I wake up to find a soft body snuggled up next to me as I chuckle, "Catherine is small, but that women needs a lot of body heat."
Hearing her mumble something in her sleep, I release my arm from her waist and stare up at the high ceiling. Exhaling slowly, I still have the image of Emily locked in my mind, with her long brunette hair, those sea green eyes and that slender body of hers. Turning on my side, Catherine sneaks her arms around my torso, "morning my prince."
I grin, "morning, sleep well?"
She rests her chin on my arm "fine, I had the most wonderful dream."
I raise an eyebrow and turn on my back, "about?"
She props herself up on her elbow and looks at me, her hand in her hair, "marrying a prince and living life together," she smirks.
I roll my eyes as I sit up and crack my neck, "I have to attend something in the village. You should come."
Catherine rolls her eyes in protest "why now? It's too early, Babe."
I put on my soft, green robe "babe?"
She blushes and rubs her face as I walk to the changing room. Getting dressed in a red and black shirt, tan trousers, knee high boots, gloves and a green jacket accented with gold, I walk out as I see Catherine on the balcony. Her hair blowing back, I strap a sword to my side and grab my black cloak. Walking up next to her, she looks out into the distance beyond as the village comes alive.
"I hope you treat your subjects fairly."
I angle my head to look better towards her as I say "go get dressed, I'm going to be late."

She nods as she goes to the bedroom and strips down in front of me. My eyes scan her body as I blush and bite my lip. Catherine smirks and bends over to get her red cloak as I walk past her. Smacking her butt, I growl "meet me in the council room in 5." She nods as a servant dresses her in a light, pink gown. She smiles as the servant strokes her golden curls and leaves it down. Shoes to match, the servant grabs her cloak and clasps it on her. The servant bows and leaves as Catherine meets Kaden in the council room. Opening the door to the big room, her footsteps echo on the tile as Kaden watches her with a smile plastered on his slender face, "you look beautiful my love."
She takes his arm and chuckles "thank you, are we ready?"
I don't answer as we walk toward the castle gates, with my cloak over my head; the guards open the gate as I enter into the village. First what hits me is the smell of the fresh, baking bread on the windowsills of houses. Catherine eyes window shops with beautiful displays of jewelry as I look at her "would you like something from here?"
Seeming surprised, she hints back a smile "sure."

Catherine opens the door as the tiny bell jingles. Walking in after her, the person behind the counter looks up from his book, "good morning, welcome to Jewelry of the Ages; may I help you miss?"
She clears her throat, "yes actually, I was hoping you would have-" Holding up a shiny silver necklace with a fake diamond in the middle, she smiles "something more extravagant."
The shop keeper nods, "I think I have something in the back, excuse me." Pushing a door open, he goes inside as I see stacks of brown boxes inside. Folding my arms over my chest, I glance down at the masterpieces and pick up a very old necklace with a red ruby attached to it. I smile and look at Catherine, thinking this would look beautiful on her. Out of boredom, I yawn and call her over. She walks toward me as I grin "I think I found something that suits your liking."

She tilts her head "like what?"
I hold up the necklace to her as a smile lights up those hazel eyes of hers, "it's breathtaking Kaden."
My eyes meet hers and she looks down at her feet, "maybe some other time perhaps."
I shrug as the shopkeeper comes back with a small blue box, "I hope you like one. This necklace comes all the way from Alva."
He lifts his lid as she smiles wide, "that's the one. How much?"
"£50."
Kaden scoots her aside, "make it 40."
The man rubs his chin and shakes his head, "I'm sorry, but that just won't do."
Kaden shows his teeth "do you really want to do this? Even to this poor lady?"
Catherine looks away as the man shakes his head as Kaden smiles, "that's what I thought."
Dropping the money on the counter, I grab the necklace as I turn toward Catherine, "turn around."
She obeys and brushes her hair to one side as I lay it on her neck and clasp it together. Her blonde hair falls down in curls as she touches it and turns around, "thank you. It's lovely your high-"
Cutting her off, I hear the door jingle as I quickly make my way toward an apple stand. Back in the shop, Catherine sighs and walks out taking the box with her as I quickly swipe a red apple from the stand. Hearing it crunch in my mouth, I keep walking until I hear a shy scream up ahead. Catherine walks up ahead to see what the commotion is as I take another bite. Juice running down my chin, I wipe it away as a old women falls to the ground.
"If you say one word, I'll end you," the robber yanks the gold ring off her brittle finger.
"Please sir, it's the only thing I have left of my husband, God rest his soul. Without it, I'm lost."
The robber snickers, flicks it into the air and catches it.
"Aren't you doing to do something?" Catherine's warm breath tickles my ear as I shake my head, "no, why should I?"
She pulls her hood down, "you're the crown prince. Help her."
I shake my head as the robber kicks her basket of flowers away. I chuckle as she hisses, "what is wrong with you Kaden."
A wicked smirk appears from my lips "it's called having fun, my dear. Something you should learn."
Catherine mumbles slightly to herself as I raise an eyebrow, "what was that?"
She glances toward the clear sky "nothing."
I shrug as she walks up to the old lady once the robber leaves. Helping her up, the lady smiles; her teeth yellow and crooked, "thank you ever so much."
Catherine's eyes are gentle "I'll buy you a new one."
The lady sighs and shakes her head, "poor Robert is dead, he gave me that 82 years ago. Now it's gone."
Catherine looks at me as I take another bite of the apple and snap my teeth at her seductively. Rolling her eyes, she turns toward the lady but she's gone. Marching back toward me, she hits me on the shoulder "how could you do that!"
I shrug, "I'm the prince as you said. I do what I want, and I don't care what other people think."
She intertwines my hand with her as she leads me down a cobblestone street "I care about you Kaden, a lot actually." The red from her cloak matches the color of her cheeks, "and you make me feel like I have a place in this world. But I hate your personality. The truth hurts, doesn't it."
I kick a pebble as a slight ocean breeze flutters my cloak, "well, since we're being honest..I don't like your tone when you speak to me like that, you're annoying a lot of the times. But other than, you're pretty nice."
She crosses her arms "just nice?"
I nod and whistle a tune as I kiss her hand, "but you're still the person that warms my bed at night, so I can't complain."

Looking forward, her stomach grumbles "are we going to eat soon?"
I nod "soon, let's hope the chef is preparing something delicious."
She wets her lips as my blue eyes find hers "let's head back to the castle, I've enough of this for one day."
Nodding, she shivers and walks with me toward the castle. Entering the iron gates, they close as I hear soft music coming from within the castle walls.
   "What's going on Kaden?"
I shrug, "I don't know, but I'll find out."
She traces a finger down my cheek as I hiss "not now Catherine!"
Pulling back, she keeps walking with me as I yank my hood off, revealing my messy brown hair. The royal guards open the big doors as I enter the hallway. We walk down the wide hallway, just as the music gets louder. Hearing ladies giggle, I walk toward the council room and pull off my gloves as the guards open the door for me. Taking my gloves and cloak, my uncle finds me and slings an arm over my shoulder, "surprise."
Always tipsy, my uncle looks at me "I invited the most beautiful women in all of Castor to come and meet you. Hopefully you'll find one of them decent enough to marry," as he slurs his words. I nudge him off me as a lady clad in black walks up to me and curtsies, "your highness, I am Margery."
I nod "nice to meet you." Obviously not interested in any of them, Catherine just stands there behind me. I better hurry if I want to become Queen, because the competition is heating up."
My uncle introduces me to a lot of these women as I smile and nod. He sips his champagne and I chat with a lovely red head named Cleo. She giggles sweetly and plays with her fingers as I brush a strand of loose hair behind her ear.
   "Where are you from?"
"That's none of your business, your highness."
I clench my fingers for a brief moment "I asked you a question, now answer."
She turns to walk away but I grab her arm "tell me."
Her eyes say it all as I huff and let her go. Her dress trails behind her as she gossips to her other friends.
My uncle pulls me to the side, "they are here for you nephew, so be on your best behavior tonight."
I grunt as Jefferson flies in through a window and lands by my side "Kaden, can I talk to you?"
   "Not now big J."
He sheaths his claws, "but I need to-"
I shut my eyes, "I said not now."
He grumbles and sees all these ladies in the wide space "what's all this?"
Kaden explains, "my uncle set this all up so that I could find a reasonable girl to marry. But I hate them all."
He nods and smirks, "I think I know just the person."
  My eyebrows raise up "who?"
He giggles and walks away.
