[A/N- Sorry for the long wait!
Thanks again for reading my story! :) ]
I hesitated a long time before finally pressing the SEND button. I looked at my alarm clock and saw that it was 5:07AM.
I knew there was no way I’d be able to fall back asleep so I decided to start working on the assignment our English teacher had given us the day before on Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights.
It wasn’t due before the following month but I hadn’t read the book yet, so that’s where I started.
1801- I have just returned from a visit to my landlord – the solitary neighbor that I shall be troubled with. This is certainly a beautiful country! In all England, I do not believe that I could have fixed on a situation so completely removed from the stir of society. A perfect misanthropist’s heaven: and Mr. Heathcliff and I are such a suitable pair to divide the desolation between us. A capital fellow! He little imagined how my heart warmed towards him when I beheld his black eyes withdraw so suspiciously under their brows, as I rode up, and when his fingers sheltered themselves, with a jealous resolution, still further in his waistcoat, as I announced my name.
~~~
“Sam, chop chop! We’re late!”
Hmmm… What?!
I opened my eyes in panic. I sat up and rubbed my eyes before looking at my alarm clock. 7:45AM
I now knew what to do in case of insomnia…
I had fifteen minutes to get ready to school.
Come on… Let’s get started…Three – two – one – GO!
I managed to take a shower, get dressed and pack my bag with two minutes to spare.
Just enough time to grab a pack of chocolate Mc Vitie’s along with two boxes of orange juice, and to drop a few things Adam might like on the table.
I looked at the time on my phone. It read 7:59AM.
He hasn’t replied my text…
Well, what would he say anyway? Happy that you’ve forgiven me but it doesn’t change the fact that I will never be able to face you?
I sighed and put my phone away just as Adam entered the kitchen.
“I don’t have time for breakfast, do I?”
Once again unable to utter a word, I just pointed at the bunch of snacks I had left on the table for him.
Jeeze, Sam. Stop drooling!
He mumbled a quick “Thanks!” and went to put all the snacks in his bag.
He started walking towards me.
I turned around ready to make my way to the front door, but he grabbed my arm to stop me. He then leaned in so that his face was dangerously close to mine and said,
“I’ve been thinking and we need to talk. Tonight. You and I. I’ll get a take away. Oh! And don’t invite anybody… No Cheyenne, no Kane… I want you to myself, tonight, Capish?”
I nodded awkwardly. I could feel the burning expanding on my cheeks so I started to walk away but he held me back and said, “Oh! By the way, you’re beautiful too, as usual!”
He kissed me on the forehead and when he realized that I was still gobsmacked, he dragged me out of the front door which he locked for me.
Focus Sam, focus!
