I fell asleep before he came back from the shower, that night.
It didn’t matter, really, as he took me up on my offer, and decided that he would be my personal sleeping pillow from now on.
That was almost three weeks ago and we’d been living a fairy tale ever since.
People had nicknamed us the Happy Couple as we were permanently seen together, with huge a smile on our face.
I hadn’t actually told him so, but I was now one hundred percent positive, I was in love with Adam, and I was finding it more and more difficult to keep it to myself, as day in and day out, he would be there for me, covering me with kisses, or offering me the sweetest little gifts.
I was twenty-four-seven high on love.
My addiction, Adam.
The effects of my new drug, an indescribable happiness, the impression to be flying on pink clouds, and to be invincible.
Its side effects, none, zero, nada, niet, aucun…
To be honest, there was a side-effect, really, but I hadn’t experienced it myself, yet.
I should have seen the signs, though.
Indeed, after our first week as bedmates, Adam had received a phone call from his parents. They wanted him to go and have dinner with them that night to catch up a bit.
He’d come back looking sad and tired, but he’d refused to tell me why, arguing that he’d missed me.
The hot making out session that ensued, quickly brought a smile back to his face so that I totally forgot about it.
However, one night, I discovered the truth.
Adam’s parents had been pressuring him into lightening things up in our relationship, which they disapproved of.
He had just had dinner with them, and had come back fuming.
Apparently, they kept telling him that he’d lost his mind, that we were too young to really know what love was, and that he was wasting his time with a girl when it was his future he should be focusing on, this year.
Adam had then replied what he usually did, that they didn’t know me and so couldn’t make any valid judgment.
However, things went differently this time, as they apparently jumped on this opportunity, and invited us for dinner the following evening.
Needless to say, I was super nervous to meet them.
I asked Danny to help me find a nice outfit, and she actually made me smile when she answered,
“Just wear what you normally wear - minus the hoodie - and you’ll be fine.”
Noticing how fidgety I was, she then added,
“Hey Sam! Stop worrying! They’re going to love you, you know.”
I wasn’t so sure about that…
Later, when I checked with Adam about the outfit I planned to wear, he chuckled.
“Why are you so stressed about it? My parents are very cool, you’ll see. They are just slightly overprotective of me, that’s all… But once they see you, they’ll change their mind!”
~~~
Despite Adam’s attempts at reassuring me, I was a bundle of nerves when we got to his place, on Cliff Road between Sandown and Lake.
I froze in front of his house, taking in its size, as it was a two-storey house with a massive garden.
Adam let us in.
