Unexpected

Chapter Nine: A Friendly Visit

I wake up feeling like I'm being pulled down. I look over and see Toby his hands wrapped around my hand.

I quickly sit up and pain shoots up my chest from my lower stomach. I moan in pain and Toby quickly jumps onto my bed and lies me back down. He strokes my hair as I lay on his chest trying not to fall asleep again.

"Toby?" I ask looking up at him. "Hmm?" He asks looking down at me. "Was it real? Did all that really happen?" I ask and he leans in and kisses my forehead. "Yeah" he pulls me closer to him and I cuddle with him.

"Jackson and I made a plan" Toby starts lightly rubbing my shoulder. "What is it?" I ask and he sighs. "We agreed that we would do our best to stay away from you and Meredith for your own safety we have to act like we broke up and that you hate me and all that" he goes back to stroking my hair and my eyes shoot open.

"No we can't I mean I can't do that you know I can't pretend we broke up" I sit up ignoring the pain. "You know I can't" I say almost in tears at the thought of it. "And what about Nathan he is in most of my classes and if he thinks we broke up he could try something" I say terrified and he hugs me.

"You need to lie back down the doctor said to get plenty of rest" he lets me go and I shake my head. "I'm up now and I'm way too hungry to fall asleep" I rub my eyes and he smiles. "I'll go get you some food" he kisses my forehead and walks out.

Toby's P.O.V.

I walk out of the room closing the door behind me. I walk over to the elevator and push a button and the doors open seconds later. I walk in and push the button to the second floor. A few minutes later the doors slide open.

I walk over to where they have the food. "Hi anything I can get you?" A young woman asks smiling at me. "Hi yes can I have a grilled cheese a root beer and two packets of m&ms" I smile at her and she nods handing me a ticket.

I grab the ticket and look at the number. #4. I look around and sit down and wait. You know what this means. I jump at his voice and I look to my side where I can see Nathan out of the corner of my eye.

"No I don't so why don't you tell me" I snap at him as I face forward. "She will have to face them and they will decide if I can turn her-" "You know what they will decide they will decide to kill her that's what happened to every other person that knew about us and I won't let that happen to Lily anyways..." I sigh making it sound like I'm upset.

"We broke up" I say choking on my words and he puts his hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry maybe they could erase her memory-" "No I won't do that to her" I whisper to him.

A loud bell rings sending a high pitched ring through the room. "Number 4" a man calls through the room and I stand up. "Just don't touch her don't speak to her I don't want her near a monster" I growl at him and he smiles. "But we're both monsters" Nathan says with his evil smile.

"I know" I whisper as I walk away with the box of food. I walk into the elevator and walk back into the room.

Lily's P.O.V.

"Yeah and that's how I met Toby" Jackson smiles at Lily and wraps his arm around Meredith and hugs her.

"Oh that was a weird day" I hear Toby's voice and I smile as he sets the food down on the table next to me.

He sits next to me and I adjust the bed to sit up. I lean my head on his shoulder and he kisses my head stroking my hair.

"We got to go I'll see you tomorrow" Meredith says waving I smile and wave back. "I'll see you later man" Jackson smiles at Toby and he says goodbye.

They close the door behind them and I feel Toby's hand on my shoulder. I quickly look over to him and see him pulling my shirt down looking at my cut.

"Toby it's fine-" "No it's not Lily Nathan marked you this isn't good" He says touching my wound lightly. I flinch and he stops. "What's going to happen to me?" I ask terrified of what will happen to me.

"I would rather you didn't know yet" He looks away from me and I turn his head to face me. "Toby that's not fair why won't you tell me?" I whisper afraid and he wraps his arms around my waist.

"I'll tell you tonight.... Your mom is here" Toby says as the door opens I see my mother her face was moist with fading tears. "Come on Lily you must be exhausted" My mom says looking more tired than I am.

A nurse walks in and unhooks the tubes and put me in a wheelchair and rolled me out to the lobby and Toby rolled me right next to the chairs while the doctor and my mom talk.

"Now Mrs. James your daughter broke three of her ribs she will be able to attend school but she will have to be careful with what she eats does your daughter eat meat?" Doctor Davidson asks taking out his clipboard. "No she has been a vegetarian for six years" my mother says crossing her arms.

"Great she won't have any problems with eating then but as for physical education she will not be able to attend and physical activity but anything other than that she will be fine but I have these pills I'd like her to take for the pain" he hands her a bottle of pills and she nods.

We get in the car and drive home the cold wind makes me shiver. The moonlight glistens against the black road as I look out the window I feel pain slowly linger through my body.

We get inside and I slowly walk upstairs with the pills in my hand. I open my door and walk inside I close the door and moan in pain.

I drop the bottle and weakly walk over to my bed and fall. I roll over on my back in pain and I feel a pair of arms pick me up and set me on my bed properly.

I open my eyes and see Toby he lies down with me. I get closer to him as he pulls me closer I rest my head on his chest.

"I promise I will keep you safe but I will do it within a distance we have to act like we broke up I told Nathan and he believes it" Toby whispers and tears start to fill my eyes.

"Don't cry please I just want you safe" he hugs me and I cry a bit more. "I just want to be with you" "you will I promise" he says while I drift into a painless sleep.

Toby's P.O.V.

I hold her close to me and think. Nathan won't get to her I will persuade the council to let her go without the death penalty or getting her memory erased.
