Unexpected

Chapter Fifteen: Striving for Self Control

"You left us! You thought the council was more important than us!" My mothers muffled shouts sounds crystal clear in my room. "I did to save you guys, they were going to kill you and take Lily in as their own as punishment for having a baby of a vampire and a mortal" my dad explains. "You still walked out that door knowing what would happen!" She yells and then there was silence. "Lily is fine, you are unharmed, and I'm able to see you guys anytime now" he whispers in a calming voice and she starts to sob.

"I just didn't want this day to come" she cries. "It's ok" he whispers again and Click! There light goes out and they go to bed. I look up at the cup of water on my nightstand and slide my hands out of my blanket. I lift up my hand and the water glides along with it. "Don't" I jump and the water splashes onto the rug.

I turn around and see Toby standing there silently looking into my eyes. After a few moments of awkward staring and silence I clear my throat. "So why are you here?" I look up at him with a fearful look. "I just needed to check on you" he looks down in defeat and I scoot back remembering I'm in a tank top and shorts.

"I'm fine" I mummer and he nods. "Are your parents ok?" He asks and I nod trying not to look into his eyes. "I need to go back" he points out the window and starts to walk out. "Goodnight Toby" I look at him tears slowly filling my eyes, he looks back and sighs. "Goodnight Lily sweet dreams" he turns and jumps out my window and into his room.

I walk through the halls of the school everyone's eyes are on me. Feels like first day of school all over again. If it was I'd hopefully remember not to go out with Toby not even talk to him just deal with everyone and hopefully still bitch slap that girl. "Hey!" Someone shouts and I turn. I see Mike running up to me his smile increases when he notices my eyes. "Ah so the rumors are true" he smirks brightly at me and I laugh.

"Which ones?" I ask and he laughs with me. "I like them contacts, tattoos, or even if you went into space and had the Martians do it I like it, but on another note I wanted to ask you out..." He looks down and smiles and my eyes pop. "Dinner at this new French Bistro down the road please?" He asks and I sigh.

"I want to but I just went through a break up with Toby" I look around and try to hold in the tears. "It's really hard right now" my voice cracks and he pulls me into a hug. "Just say yes and if you don't like it then you never have to go out with me again" he whispers and I push him away lightly. "Fine.... Fine fine just don't make it so obvious I mean people already hate me for some odd reason" I smile nervously looking around for someone, anyone to save me from the awkwardness.

"It's a date then" he smirks and I nod. As he walks away I walk towards my homeroom I reach it and someone grabs me and pulls me inside.

"Shhhh" a man whispers. "it's me" Nathan whispers and I shove him away. "What the hell are you doing?" I ask crossing my arms looking around the dark room. "You don't know what you're doing" he spins me around and lifts my chin up. "I know exactly what I'm doing" I growl and he steps back. "I heard what you can do" he mutters and I glare at him. "I need to go Meredith and I need to finish some homework" I start to walk away and he grabs me.

"Don't do this" he looks at me his green eyes flashing on me I start to feel weak. My knees start to tremble and I rip his tight hand off of my arm. "Try to stop me...." I stare daggers at him and he steps away, my stomach rumbles and I walk out of the room. I start off with a quick walk which turns into a run, down the hall and through some doors and I end up in the janitors closet alone.
