Jace

It had been exactly a week since everyone had come home from the London Institute, and five days since Jace, Alec, and Isabelle were scolded by Maryse, despite being an adult Shadowhunter, because of the Bethany incident. Jace was leaning against the wall outside of Isabelle's room, waiting for her to finish getting ready.

Finally, his adopted sister came out of her bedroom, a wide smile on her face.

Jace got up off the wall and sighed. "Are you ready? You were taking forever."

"You told me I had to be ready by ten. It is currently nine fifty-five. I am on time."

"I didn't say you were late, I said you were taking forever," said Jace, as he started down the hall. "I also said that I was going to be busy this afternoon, so I wanted to leave as early as possible."

"Well this is as early as you're going to get."

The two left the Institute and started towards Magnus's apartment.

"What's Clary doing while we are gone?" asked Jace.

"Simon is keeping her busy. I think they went to Luke and Jocelyn's house for lunch and a movie with them."

"I hope he can keep her busy for the rest of the day," mumbled Jace.

"Why?" asked Isabelle.

"I need to pick up some stuff after we get back."

"Are you planning on doing it tonight?"

Jace shook his head. "I won't have enough time to set everything up by tonight. I'll just spend all night working on it, then do it tomorrow."

Isabelle nodded her head in understanding, and smiled. "If you need help, you know where to find Alec and I."

"I'm afraid of what to find Alec doing at night if I need his help, especially because he is living at Magnus's now."

Isabelle chuckled. "He won't be doing anything but taking care of that kid that they adopted a few years back, remember?"

"I keep forgetting that they have that warlock baby."

"It's been like two years Jace," Isabelle deadpanned.

Jace shrugged. "It's been an eventful two years."

The two finally made it to Magnus's apartment. They walked up the stairs that led to Magnus's loft, and knocked on the door. Alec answered the door holding a blue toddler against his hip.

"Hey." Alec opened the door and let his siblings through. "Magnus is in the kitchen trying out a new baby recipe he saw in some cookbook he picked up when he was out grocery shopping."

"Magnus goes grocery shopping?" asked Isabelle, taking the baby from Alec and sitting down on the couch to play with him.

"Yeah he's been on a mundane kick lately, now that Max is starting to walk and talk more," said Alec, indicating the baby warlock.

"Is he almost done? I don't have all day. My time is valuable," said Jace.

"You are the one relying on me, so I recommend you don't push me," said Magnus, coming into the room with a bowl with what looked like orange custard. "I made this carrot baby food for him. I heard this was good for babies, helps them get used to vegetables." He gave it to Alec who stared at it, horrified.

"Is this even safe to put in Max's mouth? It smells disgusting," said Alec.

"Yes, it is safe Alexander. I wouldn't feed our child anything else." Magnus turned to Jace as Alec took Max back from Izzy, put him in the high-chair sitting in the corner, and fed him. "Okay, right this way," said Magnus, as he made his way out of the loft.
