Jace

The Shadowhunters walked one-by-one out of the portal.

When they all exited and the portal disappeared, they started heading towards the apartment building.

"Portals are amazing. Hey Magnus, do you know who made them?" asked Vanessa.

"I do."

"Really? Who?"

"A Shadowhunter named Henry Branwell."

"Don't forget, you helped him too Magnus."

The Shadowhunters looked up and saw Tessa Gray and Jem Carstairs standing in front of the apartment building.

"Wait." Vanessa pointed at Jem. "What do you mean Magnus helped Henry Branwell?"

Jem laughed. "Both Henry and Magnus made the portal."

Vanessa's eyes got wide.

Jace rolled his eyes, and crossed his arms. "If you all are done with the highly entertaining history lesson, I would like to know why we are here."

"We need Tessa's help." said Magnus.

"For what?" Clary asked.

"She's our ticket in and out of Hell."

"Why don't you all head in, and we will explain." Jem gestured towards the apartment building.

They all headed inside, towards the elevator, then followed Tessa and Jem to their apartment rooms. As Jace walked in, a blast of fresh air hit him. It felt nice, considering outside was burning from the hot Los Angeles weather.

The apartment itself was really neat, clean, and simple. It was a studio, meaning everything was out in the open except for the bathroom. Walking into the apartment, the kitchen was right next to the front door. It was a darker, more vintage looking kitchen, which suited both Tessa and Jem. There was no dining room table, but there was an island in the kitchen with black bar stools. In the far right corner was a bed with a black rustic metal bed frame. The whole back wall was made of glass, with a beautiful view of the street below. In the other corner was a small TV with a couple of couches that formed a "U" around the TV. The whole apartment was quite large, considering it was basically just one big room.

"Your place is super cool." Vanessa said, in awe.

"Thank you." replied Tessa.

"What will happen if you both want kids?"

Tessa and Jem looked at each other uneasily.

Clary must've noticed it as well, because she quickly said, "Just ignore her. She usually says things before thinking them."

Vanessa's face turned red as she looked to the ground shyly. "I'm really sorry."

"It's quite alright." said Jem. "Why don't you all have a seat, and we'll explain everything."

The young Shadowhunters spread out, with Kyle and Lilly sitting on the bar stools on the island, Clary, Magnus, and Izzy on the couches, Vanessa sitting on the kitchen island next to her brother, and Alec standing by the door as if he were guarding it. Jace was about to go sit next to Clary, but both Magnus and Izzy surrounded her on both sides, so he decided to stay behind with Alec. Tessa and Jem stood in the front of the room so they could see everyone.

"A couple of days ago, I had a dream about Lilith saying that I need to send you all to Hell because she needs help." Tessa began. "I didn't understand, because why would the mother of all demons need a Shadowhunter's help? Then I remember that Magnus had been having some recurring dreams about Bethany killing a girl of red or brown hair, and I didn't understand how that tied in with my dream. Then, Magnus tells me about Bethany's attack on the Institute, and everything made sense. Lilith created Bethany, but Bethany has gotten out of control, so she wants us to kill Bethany."
