"What? Is everything okay?"
"Well...there was a car accident...and Yasmin got hit by an 18 wheeler." My heart dropped instantly. The one I love, the one I need, could be dead. "I-is she okay? And what a-about Eric?!" "He's fine, I'm at the hospital with him. Yasmin was the only one in the truck. I don't know anything, the doctors won't say." I felt tears burn in my eyes, yearning to be released. "I'm so sorry this happened to you ash." "I-it's not your fault. Can you find o-out anything?" Her voice cracked and shook, replying softly. "I'll let you know anything when they let me in." "Okay, thanks. Bye." I ended the call, sitting a few tables away to think. Yasmin could be dead, and I wasn't there to be by her side. I should have never left. This might not have happened if I stayed. I laid my head on the table, small sobs escaping my throat. I felt like pure shit. Yasmin is my life. Now, it's gone. Lying on a table, fading before my eyes. Anger surged through my veins. She shouldn't have been driving. I shouldn't have left. That idiot shouldn't have been on the road. I really shouldn't have left. I shouldn't have lived that night.

I sat in the waiting room, Eric sitting in my lap. "Is momma okay?" He was only a kid, but still worried about his mother. "I don't know sweetie. Just relax." He nodded, looking straight at the floor. For the next 20 minutes, Eric and I waited for anything. Finally, a nurse walked out, holding a clipboard. "Yasmin Irwin?" I stood up, bringing Eric with me. "Are you family?" "Yes, now tell me what happened." She nodded, leading me down a hall. "She's lucky to be alive. She had severe chest injuries, abdominal wounds, right leg and left arm are broken, she's got a pretty bad concussion, and her lungs and ribs are in pretty bad shape, but she's still alive. She's unconscious, but you can see her." I nodded, Eric just staring, not understanding anything she said. "Eric, are you sure you wanna see your mom?" He nodded, holding onto my hand. "Alright buddy." She led us into the room, my eyes widening once I saw her. Korosu's face was bruised pretty bad, small cuts all over her, and a large gash on her right cheek. Her arm and leg were in casts, while her head was wrapped and breathing tubes over her nose. I almost wanted to throw up, yet couldn't let Eric know how terrible this really was. "Aunt Sasha, why is momma sleeping?" "She's really tired baby. Now stay quiet." He nodded again, looking up at her. Small tears ran down his cheeks, his hand grasping mine. I kneeled down, hugging him. "It's okay sweetie. She'll be okay." "Is she hurting?" I didn't know how to respond. This boy is seeing his mother, bruised and cut, lying on a bed, motionless. Her frail body looked small compared to the bed. Then I noticed something I shouldn't have.
Her scars.
The burn marks.
She had done it again.
I kept Eric turned around, not letting him see her. "Wanna stay here and wait until she wakes up?" He shook his head. "Yeah..." I picked him up, sitting in the chair in the corner of the room.
For hours we waited, her chest rising and falling quickly, each breath obviously labored. When she finally did wake up, it was terrible. Her eyes were bloodshot, skin extremely pale where it wasn't purple. She looked at both of us, her face showing anger. Eric was about to try and go up to her, when she moved farther back towards the bed. She started coughing violently, gripping the steel bars by the bed. Eric seemed scared, yet stayed quiet. A nurse ran in, holding a bottle of sedatives. "Yasmin, calm down." Before she could do anything, she blacked out, falling back onto the bed.
"Why did she look mad at us?"
"Eric, sometime people forget things if they get hit in the head really hard. Don't worry, she'll remember." He nodded, staying close. "What if she doesn't?" I couldn't find the words, so I just kept him close to me. I felt bad for both of them, even ash. I decided after a while that Eric shouldn't be seeing his mother in this bad of a condition. "Hey buddy, we need to get you home, okay?" "What about mommy?" He squeezed my hand, pointing to her motionless figure. "She needs to sleep for a while. Let's go bud." I led him outside, driving back to their house. I stayed with Eric, while havoc was brought to her small hospital room.

Darkness. That's all I could remember about what happened. A large truck, blood, then darkness. My mind swirled with what felt like distant memories, yet were quite vivid. Death. Kissing a man. Falling in love with him. Full on making out with him. Fucking him. Marrying him. Having his child. I couldn't point out any faces, despite my efforts. It just felt so real, yet felt like a dream all the same.
