Time seemed to make it worse.

When I came back the next day, surge was waiting for me by the door. "Hey, is everything oka-"
"She can't talk."
I took a minute, trying to comprehend what he just said. "What?"
"I'm short, the impact messed up her vocal cords. The tissue needs time to repair itself. If she does talk, it won't be very loud or for very long. But don't pressure her into speaking. Also, I need to tell you, don't freak out if she doesn't respond."
I asked again what the hell he was talking about.
"Her brain needs to adjust to the different connections being made after that fall, and sometimes that can trigger seizures. They aren't always muscle spasms and seizing, sometimes they don't respond to what's going on for a few seconds. Yet if she does have a major seizure, don't freak out. Just call me in. Stress can trigger things like that so just relax." I nodded, following him inside. Once he brought me in, I wanted to throw up.
Her bruises were worse. She had more bandages on her body, some bloody.
IV's and needles were in her arm and side. Her eyes were still irritated and bloodshot.
And that was only her upper body.
I walked over beside her, slowly putting my hand on hers. She turned towards me, smiling slightly. I kissed her hand, not holding it too tightly. She gazed around for a second, then up at me. I was able to make out what she was trying to say.
'I love you ash.'
"I love you too Yasmin. More than anything." I felt myself smile.
"Are you feeling okay?"
She shrugged, lightly squeezing my hand. I glanced over at the monitor which seemed to be going at a normal rate. Surge seemed to be in the room.
"That monitors her lungs and heart. Though her heart doesn't work, it can still cause problems."
I nodded, kissing her forehead. She smiled softly, glancing up at me. I ran my thumb across the back of her hand, sighing softly.
After a minute, she just stopped responding to anything.
"Yasmin?" I said softly, lightly squeezing her hand.
This is the thing he was talking about...
For the next minute or so, she didn't respond to anything. Eventually, she glanced around, confused. "W-ha-t hap-pe-ned?" She choked out, trying to sit up. "You zoned out, now lay back and relax baby. It's okay."
"He's right Korosu. Lay down." Surge stopped by the room to check on her, nodding.
She reluctantly laid back, sighing softly. I kissed her cheek softly. "Just relax. It's okay." She nodded after a minute, squeezing my hand.
I should've just kept her in my arms and not let go. I wished I did.
~Korosu~
I needed to make sure I was really seeing him.
He squeezed my hand back, reassuring me.
I just felt separated from everything that was going on. I kept thinking Mary was here, just like when Greg cut my back. I kept hearing those voices talking in my head, telling me to just let the fuck go.
I was trying.
I was trying so fucking hard.
But it didn't work.
I felt like there was a weight on my chest.
The entire room was spinning.
I couldn't feel my hands.
I saw everyone rushing around.
Yet I didn't react like I should have.
~Ashton~
I had been standing there, holding onto her hand, when she just let go. I thought she just hurt, until I heard the rate on the monitor speed up.
I looked down at her, squeezing her hand. "Yasmin? Yasmin!" She just closed her eyes, going limp. Surge heard the monitor, rushing in. He glanced down at her.
Surge looked at me, speaking in a frantic voice. "Her body is just stopping. Like hell I'll let that happen." I watched as he got out a large needle, sticking it in her leg. He injected the substance, looking at the monitor. It still seemed a little fast. Surge grabbed an oxygen mask, putting it over her nose and mouth. Slowly, it went back to normal. I felt myself relax slightly, still holding onto her hand.
"She blacked out. I don't think she'll wake up any time soon. Just don't be very loud." He left the room without another word.
I pulled the chair over from the corner of the room, sitting beside the bed. Her skin still glitched, despite recent events. I laid my head down beside her, slowly falling asleep.

I woke up to somebody's hand on my cheek.
I jerked awake, looking up at Yasmin. She looked concerned, rubbing her thumb over my cheekbones. "A-Are
y-ou oka-y?" She spoke softly and in a cracked voice. I nodded, kissing her hand. "I'm okay baby, I'm okay. I promise."
I saw surge by the door, leaning against the frame. "Just thought you should know it's almost midnight." That was all he said before walking out.
Yasmin looked at me, just mouthing what she was trying to say. 'Go see the kids and get some rest baby. I'll be fine. I promise.'
That's what you said before all of this happened.
"I don't want to leave you baby. I love you."
'And I love you. But they need you. It'll be okay. I'm okay. Promise. I'll see you soon love.' She smiled, squeezing my hand.
"Okay... I'll see you tomorrow baby. I love you. I really love you."
I stood up, kissing her head.

Right as I was walking out, surge ran back in, muttering something. I was about to walk back in when he slammed the door shut. I tried the knob but he ended up locking it.
"Surge, let me in. What's going on?"
"You really wanna see her having a seizure?! I don't fucking think so!" He yelled back in response. I tried multiple times to open the door, each one failing. I slammed my palm against it, setting my forehead on the door. I stood there, breathing heavily. After a minute, it seemed quiet. Surge opened the door, sighing.
"I don't know what it was. Did you do something?!"
"Why would I try to hurt my own fucking wife?!" I yelled back, obviously angry.
"Did you try to stress her out Ashton. Answer the goddamn question."
"I just fucking told you. I wouldn't try to hurt her. Ever." I shoved past him, looking at Yasmin.
She had blacked out again, and was breathing heavily.
"Look Ashton, I'm sorry, bu-"
"Fuck you."
I walked straight out of the house, driving away quickly.
But not before stopping by a bar.
