It was a cold night and Corey and I lay cuddled with a bunch of blankets on the couch.

Protectively, Corey held me in his arms tightly as the television's sounds emitted throughout the room, filling the warm and full yet empty silence.

Thoughts came across my mind, interrupting the inner peaceful environment I was trying to create.

I couldn't contain it any longer.

"Corey," I whispered.

"Yeah? What's wrong?"

"A few days ago Lydia told me something about her feeling that something would be happening to me. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. If I have to be completely honest, I'm terrified," I spoke quietly, my feelings showing in the way I let out my words.

"Don't let it bother you. I'll protect you. I won't let anyone touch you, got it?" Corey turned me slightly so I could face him.

Still very uncertain, I nodded.

"I love you," I told him.

"I love you, too," he mumbled back, kissing the top of my head.

I turned my attention back to the television. I needed anything that would distract me from my frightening thoughts.

The next day, Corey had told me that he had to go on a meeting that Theo called his whole pack to.

Understandingly, I let it slide.

After Corey had been turned into a chimera and died, later coming back to life, he changed. Part of him had become dark, as if death had changed a fraction of his heart.

I had been by his side the whole time, trying my best to remind him of his humanity and keep him as the Corey I knew.

Theo was definitely not a good influence on Corey but he had no choice but to follow his instructions. He was his alpha.

I stayed at home, cleaning my room all day until later, an hour or so after the sunset, when my mom had asked me to run to the store and buy some stuff for her.

She handed me a small piece of paper that contained all the items she needed.

I slipped on a hoodie and my converse before heading out with my phone and keys.

I had been halfway to the store when the annoying beeping sound came from behind the steering wheel.

I needed gas.

A groan escaped my lips before I took a detour towards the closest gas station. Luckily, there was a stash of emergency gas money in the little container between the front seats.
