Before any of you tell me how much you hate me for this, I'll take the time to credit nateshoe for this idea <3 (I'm kidding, this is totally my fault)

Teenage crushes.

Every girl has had at least one crush in which they'd do anything for just to get their attention.

Why, you ask? That's just how it is with the young and very hormonal young women.

But I had it a bit different.

It wasn't the stereotypical "I like that boy because he's hot." kind of crush that I had on Liam Dunbar.

I had been best friends with Liam for as long as I could remember and had known him longer than our other best friend Mason had.

Underneath the troubles Liam had, I saw who he really was and it wasn't that hard to fall for him.

Liam, Mason, and I were like the three musketeers and were known to be inseparable until a certain something came in the way.

Sophomore year.

I was walking down the hallway with Mason, heading to our next class," have you seen Liam? He promised that he'd meet me at lunch and I wanted to ask where exactly he wanted to."

"No, sorry," I replied to Mason's question.

Mason let out an exaggerated sigh and I laughed," I know how you feel. Our best friend is practically ditching us for his girlfriend."

Hayden Romero.

She was the "something" that had interfered with our friendship.

Although she was beyond nice, Mason and I had a slight disliking towards her, mainly having come from the jealousy that overcame us when we barely got to see Liam. Ever.

"And better yet, he rejected my invitation to game night tomorrow."

"He actually said no?" I felt my blood begin to boil.

"Yeah," Mason answered," not surprising though."

I groaned," you know what, I don't care if he's busy with his girlfriend, I'm going straight up to him at lunch and forcing him to coming over for game night whether he'd like it or not."

Lunch came and after exiting class, I headed to the spot where I knew Liam and Hayden were - the picnic tables outside.

It took me a while to get through the throng of people in the hallways but I finally made it outside, examining the groups of people for any sign of the two I was looking for.

Then my eyes landed on them.

Sitting at a table, laughing with each other and faces centimeters apart were Liam and Hayden.

My heart seemed to fall but I forced myself to stand up straighter as I made my way towards them.

The two turned their heads my way when I approached," hey guys!"
