Chapter 38

PERCY POV

Ugh. School. Annabeth's alarm clock blares and I throw a lazy hand on it. Looking over, I see Annabeth still asleep on my chest. Poor girl. She was exhausted yesterday.

I decide to let her sleep a little bit, so I get up, carefully placing her head on the pillow, and get dressed.

Currently, I am wearing a blue shirt with just regular jeans and black Nikes.

I go over to Annabeth and shake her shoulder slightly. "Annabeth, baby, wake up." Oops. Baby just slipped out. I hope she didn't hear that. 😁

She groans, lightly hitting my arm so I stop shaking her. "Annabeth," I say while chuckling, "you have to get up." She tosses a bit, before throwing the covers off her and lazily getting up.

She grabs a random outfit and goes into the bathroom.

After she comes out, we go downstairs to get breakfast. I set the table and Annabeth gets some pancake on a sticks and heats them up.

After eating, we get on the bus and sit in the back together. I hear snickers as we go to the back, but I brush them off.

Annabeth rests her head on the window. "Everyone's seen the video. I don't get why I wanted to come today," she mumbles. "Hey. It'll be alright. Everyone will forget about it sooner or later," I try to coo. She nods a little and lays her head on my chest.

"I want to go home!" She says. "Annabeth, calm down," I try to say soothingly. She shakes her head, "I can't! They keep talking about me, making fun of me, and shoving me around! I can't do this today! I can't!" She proclaims, her breathing shallow and fast.

"Okay, okay, okay," I say, gently grabbing her arm. "Shh..." Annabeth tries to calm down but it isn't working.

Someone passes us in the once deserted hall, and snickers at Annabeth, throwing a punch at her and shoving her into the lockers.

"Hey!" I scream, chasing after the guy and grabbing him by the collar. "Don't you ever do that to her again!" I punch him hard on his face and knee him where the sun doesn't shine.

Leaving him whimpering like a dog, I go back to Annabeth who know has a red mark on her cheek. I help her stand up and she still has shallow breathing. "I can't breathe!" She proclaims and I rub her shoulders and whisper soothing words into her ear.

After a few minutes, she calms down and I hug her once again.

"Are you okay now?" I ask her, inspecting her beautiful face. She nods a little and I rub her small arms.

Currently, there is one more class of the day and Annabeth obviously can not take anymore of the teasing that has gone on today.

"I would take you home, but you know I can't drive," I say. She nods. "I'm not going to make you go to your last class, you know that. Not with everything that happened today. Why don't you just meet me outside homeroom and then we can get on the bus?" I tell her. "Thank you," she says, smiling a sad smile.

The last bell rings and I go to class.
