Chapter 40

Annabeth's POV

I feel the bed dip, and I look over to see Percy sitting beside me, putting a plate with food on it onto the nightstand.

He notices I am awake, and he smiles a little, while pulling my hair behind my ear. "I'm sorry for waking you," he apologizes softly. I shake my head, "It's fine. How did you get in here?" I ask referring to the fact I had locked it. "Key," he says, holding up a gold one.

"I'm sorry today didn't go well," Percy apologizes. I shrug, "Thank you, but it's not your fault, so don't apologize." He smiles again at me, yet his face drops to a more serious look when he asks, "Do you feel okay?"

I sniffle before shrugging. "You're burning up," he says, putting a hand to my forehead.

Percy gets up and grabs a washcloth, then runs it underwater and rings it out. When he gets back to the me, he places it on my forehead.

I close my eyes, it feels good to have a cold washcloth on my head. He grabs a thermometer and puts it in my mouth. After it beeps it reads to be 103.2 degrees F.

"Okay, I'll be right back," Percy gets up and comes back in with a pill and water in his hand. "Here," I take the pill and lay back down.

"Why didn't you tell me you weren't feeling good?" He asks. I shrug, "I thought I was able to deal with it. I didn't know I had a fever."

"You probably aren't hungry now, but I brought you dinner. And I was wanting to talk about today, but we don't have too because you don't feel good," Percy says. I swallow hard at the memory of today, it was awful. "I don't think I can go back tomorrow," I say truthfully.

Percy nods understandingly, "Well, I'm not going to make you. Especially not with that fever."

"Do you think I should?" I ask him. "Well, I think the longer you stay home, the more they know they've gotten to you. Yet, they have been getting to you really badly, and it's causing a bunch of anxiety, which can't be good for your health. So, I honestly think it may be better to stay home for a little while," he says.

He doesn't care about reputation, he cares about me, like health stuff. Not viewings of other people. I love that.

Just to let everyone know, I have 4 other stories. So, I have a life, and multiple other stories. Therefore, I did not forget about this story, it will take me a while to update because I don't know what days to update which story. So, if you will leave me a specific day or days to update, then maybe I can updated more consistently.

If you don't comment, then it's your on fault that I'm not updating when you want. If you don't comment then I am not putting up with your complaining saying I should update.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with people telling me they can't wait for me to update, but I will not tolerate anyone telling me to just 'update'. In my eyes it's rude.
