Percy POV
I wake up and see that Annabeth isn't beside me. Then I realize the bathroom light is on. Quietly, I hear her rummaging through things.
"Annabeth?" I say, knocking on the white door. I open the door and see her looking through a drawer desperately. "What do you need?" I ask gently, squatting down beside her. "Medicine..." She groans, it's then I realize she can barely sit up. I rush to a different drawer and hand her the huge pills.
"Don't be afraid to wake me up next time, okay," I ask. She nods. I help her into bed. "We have school tomorrow, you need to sleep," I say. She shakes her head, "No, I'm not going to school tomorrow." I wrap my arm around her, "Annabeth, you need to go to school," I say. "Please. I can't. Please don't make me," she begs, her eyes glossy with tears. "They'll make fun of me. I can't take it anymore," she says. "I understand," I say, pulling her in my arms. "I'm not going to make you go. I'm not," I say.
A lot of times, avoiding the problem can make it worse, but this time I feel facing it will cause more destruction. I can't and won't put her through that.
