This may be insane, but I figured I should see Charlotte before the trial, to see if she really has changed. So with Joe just outside the door, I walked in, coming face to face with the one person I want to be the farthest from.
She smiled at me as I caught my breath, trying to not freak out. It's when she began to advance on me I said no.
She understood, and walked back to her bed. We talked for a few minutes, then I decided that was as much as I could handle. When we left, Joe gripped my hand as if he was afraid to let me go.
He led me to the car, my body slightly shaking. As he walked around the car, my phone went off and I look at it.
Need to see you. Come by our old place.
-JasonI sigh, then delete the message as Joe stepped in the car. We started to drive away to go to lunch at the Radley, Hanna's mom new restaurant.
After lunch, we went home to continue unpacking, except I couldn't. I told Joe I'm going to the store to get some food for dinner.
However, I left out the part that I'm going to meet Jason at the grille first. When I got there, I waited for Jason and too a few deep breaths.
What the hell am I doing? Going behind my husbands back and meeting up with my ex.
The seat across from me moves and I see Jason sitting down.
"Hey, thanks for seeing me," he said smiling lightly.
"Well, I know what you do if I don't agree. What do you want Jason?"
"To be with you," he admitted.
"It's way too late for that," I said crossing my arms. "I'm married, and I'm pregnant."
"Wow, uh, congratulations. Look, I know I've made your life hell, and we can't get back together, but can we at least be friends? Please?"
"Jason, you came to Australia to ruin my wedding, which you did. And now you ask me to be you friend. After everything we've been through. After all the hell you've," I stopped myself as a couple stray tears fell from my cheeks.
"Candice-"
"No. I can't be your friend. Don't contact me ever again, got it?" I questioned.
He nodded and I stormed out to my car driving away. When I got home, Joe was sitting at the dining room table, placing his phone on the table.
"Did you see him?" He asked not looking me in the eye.
"He asked me to meet with him, but trust me he's never gonna be a problem again. How did you know?"
"I put a tracker on your phone. But why was it a secret?!" He yelled standing.
"Hey! Don't you dare yell at me for telling someone to back off! And tracking me? What the hell is wrong with you?!" I yelled back.
"Are you into him?"
"What? I love you. No I'm not into him," I explained.
"Don't lie to me."
"Get out! I can't believe you don't believe me. Your wife!"
He left slamming the door behind him, causing me to jump. I placed a hand on my head and one on the table. This can't be happening.
We should've never come back to Rosewood. After calming myself down, I grabbed my keys and drove to the courthouse. Time for the trial.
We each gave our testaments and then it was me. The judge asked me the same question that's been asked a million times today.
I couldn't answer, my mind starting to be overcome by the nightmares that happened five years ago.
"No," I finally answered. "I still have the scars, emotional and physical by what she did to me. Ali," I said looking at her. "I'm so sorry, but she's a monster," I turned my attention back to the judge. "No I would not feel safe if Charlotte was let out."
Aria was after me and she said the same thing as me. The other three lied, not that I blame them I just thought we were done lying for Alison.
When the case was closed, we all left but I couldn't go back home. Hanna said I could stay with her, so I did without giving the details of why I couldn't go home.
We all decide to go get some drinks for our-well their- last night in Rosewood. We all met up at the Radley and everyone it their drinks as I had some water.
"Why aren't you drinking?" Spencer asked swirling hers around.
"I got some news," I started with a smile. "I'm pregnant."
They squealed like little girls happy for me as I laughed at their reaction. Hanna placed her hand on my stomach as if the baby would kick and I laughed.
We talked for a few more hours before we went up to Hanna's room. The girls soon passed out except for me and Hanna who talked all night.
"So, about Charlotte being let out..." She started as we laid on her bed looking at the ceiling.
"I'll be as fine as I can be. Besides, it's not like I have to talk to her right?" I smoked looking at her.
"Hey, so is everything okay with you and Joe?" She asked.
"Yeah, he just doesn't trust me right now. We got into a fight and it didn't end well."
"We always got each other," she said.
"Always."
