Liars Best Friend

Chapter 29

Today was the day I finally crashed and fell to the ground during work. My body aches, I'm seeing stars and I just collapsed to the ground.

People stopped what they were doing and came towards me. All I could do was lay there and not move.

Eventually, people picked me up and moved me to the shade. Someone handed me water and some medicine, before getting our boss.

Joe and Caleb sat next to me to make sure I was okay. When our boss came, they both left and he sat next to me.

"How you feeling?" He asked me.

"I'm fine. I guess I got overheated," I said drinking my water.

"Just rest up, and when you're ready you can work. But you don't have to, you can come back and work tomorrow."

"Thanks, Alex. See you later," I said as he stood up.

"No problem. Just be careful," Alex said leaving.

I leaned back against the tree, and closed my eyes. My body was still hurting and I opened my eyes groaning.

"You okay?" Joe asked taking a break and sitting next to me.

"Tired, and my body feels like crap. Other than that, I'm perfect," I joked making Joe laugh.

"Well, you over worked yourself. Maybe you shouldn't work until tomorrow."

"I don't want everyone to have to do my work," I explained. "Besides-"

"Your not working, or letting anyone down. Besides, we're not doing a lot today anyways."

"Thanks," I smiled nudging his arm.

"Wanna go to dinner tonight?" He asked.

"Yeah, but Caleb-"

"Are you into him?"

"What? No. He's a really good friend from high school. He helped me through a lot, Caleb actually saved me from my ex. Anyways, he's new here. Caleb doesn't really know anyone, or where anything is."

"Okay, I'm sorry I questioned you," he apologized.

"It's fine."

"So when can we go on a date?"

"Just go tonight," Caleb said walking up to us. "I'll be at your place all night. I'll be fine, I promise."

"Thanks Caleb," I smiled and he nodded walking away.

"Why-"

"He lives in my spare room. I promise nothing is going on."

"I believe you. I gotta get back to work. See you later," he said walking away.

All I did, was lay down and groan. God, why did this have to happen? Is he over-

No I won't let him break up with me because of this. I slowly stand up and lean against the tree for support. I walked to my car and got in.

I quickly drove to my apartment and got in bed. Joe and I will talk later, first I really need to rest.
