Chapter 24

"When I found mom's body on the ground. I completely broke down. I'm the one who buried her in the backyard," Cece explained as Ali and I looked at the bodies through the bars.

"You can't just say that Sara is redcoat and then completely jump to another thing that you've done," I said facing her. "You realize that no matter what you tell us we won't forgive you. We will never forgive you."

"There's no need to," she responded rushing to the doll house in the corner.

Alison and I both walked closer cautiously and watched Cece pull something out.

"Don't do this!" Alison and I screamed in unison as Cece brought her thumb down.

"We need to finish this. As a family," Cece said pressing down on the button.

When nothing happened, Alison and I gasped and tears welled up as Cece ran passed us and unlocked the door racing out.

Alison and I quickly followed as the rest of the girls soon joined us. When we all got to the roof we screamed.

"Please don't do this!" Alison begged.

"You don't want to do this to your sister," Emily persuaded.

"You've been such a bitch to us. But we heard your story. We understand," Hanna said.

"The game doesn't have to be over," I said.

"We can keep playing," Aria said.

"Please, come down from the ledge," Spencer said.

Cece turned around and jumped causing us to take a step back. She took off the mask and looked at all of us sighing.

"Game over," she said.

We all walked down the halls of Radley towards the door when I was pulled to the side by someone making me jump.

"It's okay. It's just me," Jason said giving me a tight hug.

"How are you...?"

"I don't know. I guess it wore off. My dad's not here though," he said pulling away.

"Most likely outside. Let's go," I said grabbing his hand starting to walk.

"Wait," Jason said stopping me.

"What?"

Without answering, he kissed me and I kissed back. We pulled apart and walked out smiling hand-in-hand.

After all the police questioning, we finally got to go home and sleep.

The next few weeks were weird but good. We all finally graduated and had a party for it.

The summer was the worst part. Our last summer together for who knows how long.

The day finally came when we had to say goodbye and we were a mess.

"Wow, saying goodbye is a lot harder than I thought," Hanna said as we stood outside Alison's house.

"'How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard'," Spencer quoted.

"What brilliant scholar said that?" Emily asked.

"Winnie the pooh," Spencer said making all of us laugh.

"I love you guys so much," I said beginning to cry.

"I can't believe we're not going to be together all the time anymore," Aria said quickly joining my tears.

"Let's promise something," Alison started. "That no matter what, we will always be friends."

"Promise," we said in unison.

We all hugged and said our goodbyes crying. As everyone got in their cars and drove away, Alison and I waved.

We spent one last day together before I had to leave for Australia. After all the fun, I had to leave.

We hugged and cried and wouldn't let go of each other for several minutes.

"Ali, I'm so glad that I had the chance to have a friend like you," I said pulling away.

"You too Candy. Have fun, and don't forget about me and Jason," she laughed.

"I will never forget you. That's a promise."

As I got in my car I waved goodbye one last time and drove to the airport where my future awaits me.

•5 years later•

As I drive, rushing to the Rosewood high school, I think about how weird it is to be back.

The other girls arrive right after me and we race to Alison's classroom.

"Alison, let's go," I said as she stood up.

"What?" She asked.

"We came back for you Ali, let's go before he gets here," Hanna said.

"It's too late. He's here," Spencer said as we gasped.
