The next day, I went to Joe's apartment and knocked until he answered. He looked like crap.

He let me in and made himself look decent then sat on the couch next to me.

"What happened?" I asked putting my hand on his.

"Nothing, I'm fine."

"Joe, please. Tell me."

He looked at me and completely broke into tears. I pulled him into a hug and he cried into my shoulder.

After a while, he told me what happened and we sat in silence. His grandpa is in the hospital on life support. His family wants him to go home to say goodbye.

Joe didn't want to think about it, so he said we should just go to work. I protested, but he insisted.

When we arrived, it was raining hard. We all almost left, but decided we should work to help those kids.

The entire time, I was worried about Joe. He looked fine, but I wasn't so sure. He has to be dying on the inside.

When work was over, it started to pour and everyone rushed to their cars. I waited in mine as my heater started to warm up and waited for Joe.

When he came, I drove in silence. I pull up to the apartment complex and wrap an arm and Joe as we walked to his apartment.

After he showered and changed, he began to sniffle but wasn't crying. I took his temperature and he was burning up.

After leading him to bed, I made soup and left it to cool off on the stove. I walked to my apartment and changed.

"Hey, is everything okay with Joe?" Caleb asked from my doorway.

"Um, there's some family stuff going on. And I'm pretty sure he's sick. I gotta go over and take care of him," I said grabbing a bag.

"Really? Well, tell him I hope everything gets better," Caleb said as I nodded.

God, I hope it does, I thought to myself heading out the door.

A/N I'm sorry it's short, but it's really late and I promise to make the next chapter longer. Love you all!!! 😘😘😘
