Chapter Thirty Nine
“I hate my life.” Sirius grumbled to himself as he leaned against their living room wall, his arms crossed as he watched his mother go on and add some ‘finishing touches’ to his younger siblings. She wasn’t doing the same to him mainly because he told her to bug off and he can manage on his own.
Every house elf they had was practically going mad with all the work they were doing, adding the finishing touches with the house, and preparing the food, wiping and dusting every inch of the furniture and just making the house look perfect.
“Now the three of you stay here,” said their mother as she finished fixing up Polaris’ hair for the last time, she looked specifically at Sirius who just yawned “Do not misbehave, the guests should be arriving any minutes now.” She then walked off and started fussing about other things. Sirius rolled his eyes; he knew he had better things to do, he was about to head back upstairs to his room but a small hand pulled onto his, he looked back and saw his little sister giving him a look.
“Don’t you dare leave.” She said darkly, her usual innocent face looking a bit scary.
“I wasn’t planning to,” said Sirius honestly. He then grinned. “But you know what? You just gave me an idea.” Polaris gave him an even darker look. She stood on her tip toes as high as she could and pulled her older brother by the collar.
“Don’t you dare leave me here alone, Sirius Orion Black III,” Said Polaris, emphasizing every word “If you do I will seriously hex you with every First Year hex I know.”
“And how many are those? Five?” Sirius said, trying to stop himself from laughing. Polaris gave him the look and he stopped. He then pulled Polaris’ hand off his collar and bent to her level. Polaris crossed her arms and Sirius just smiled “Aww c’mon Kid. You know I won’t leave you alone here with all these dark and scary wizards around!”
“Promise?” said Polaris, her arms still crossed. Sirius laughed
“Yeah, yeah.” He said, he then straightened himself up again “What’s up with you? You never get upset when I try to escape this hell hole.”
Polaris sighed, as she looked back to see the front door already opening and her mother running up to get it, with her father and Regulus in toe.
“I just have a really bad feeling about this year.” She said; as her mother greeted her Aunt Druella and family, calling her and Sirius in the process.
“I know what you mean kid.” Said Sirius as he glared at his cousin Bellatrix who had just entered the building, she gave Sirius her usual sadistic smile as she took off her coat and threw it onto the house elf that was in charge of taking their coats
“Sirius! Long time no see!” she cried as her other sisters, got into the house. Sirius narrowed his eyes at her as his mother continued chatting with her sister-in-law.
“Bellatrix.” Sirius greeted her back darkly. Bellatrix just cackled as she went on to Polaris who forced out a fake smile.
“Hey Sirius,” Sirius was about to give his usual response of “What now?” but then he realized it was his cousin Andromeda. Andromeda smiled, she knew Sirius was about to say that.
