Chapter Forty
“She got disowned?” James asked in disbelief; his eyes wide in surprise after Sirius had told them what had happened during their last family reunion. Sirius wasn’t able to write about his family drama to his friends, he decided he would tell them when they were on the train ride back to school.
“Yeah,” Sirius said, nodding grimly. He sighed as he looked out the window and watched as the other students said their final goodbyes to their parents and boarded the train, trying to find Arianna from the crowd. “They burned her off. Well blasted off if you’d like to put it,” he then laughed bitterly “I can’t wait ‘til the day I get burned off that tapestry.”
“You don’t know what you’re saying,” Peter squeaked “They’re still your family you know.” Sirius snorted and rolled his eyes
“I don’t care anymore,” he said “Well actually, I never cared.”
“You seem really upset Padfoot.” Remus commented as he read a book; Sirius rolled his eyes again
“Isn’t it obvious Moony?” said James, Remus then rolled his eyes. Sirius ignored their bickering and looked out the window again, and once again he so no signs of Arianna.
“She’s the only member who well… understood me I guess…” Sirius said quietly.
“There’s still Polaris,” said James; trying to look at the bright side like he always does. Sirius managed to suppress a smile and nodded
“Yeah, you have a point.” Sirius agreed “Besides, I’m sure it won’t be long until my name on the tapestry would meet the same fate.”
“You keep saying it like it’s a good thing.” Said Peter
“Because, it is a good thing.” Said Sirius “Now, enough with all this drama, give me some of those Chocolate frogs you selfish berks and who among you has the map? Now would be a good time to take it out, we have pranks to plan.” James grinned wickedly as Remus tossed Sirius a chocolate frog. He then pulled out a piece of parchment from his pocket
“I thought you’d never ask.” James said as he got onto the floor along with his three other friends. He laid the blank piece of parchment on the floor and got out his wand “Are you sure it already works?” Peter asked
“We’ve been working on it for months,” said Sirius a bit impatiently “Of course it’s bound to be working by now.” James nodded in agreement
“Besides,” said James with a shrug “We’ll never know if it works if we don’t try.” He looked at Remus “I just tap the parchment and say the works right?” James asked for reassurance. Remus nodded
“It’s bound to work.” Remus said, “I’ve done so much late night research at the restricted section. It has to work.”
“Well what are we waiting for then?” Sirius said; a grin already plastered on his face.
“Wait,” said James “I think… Since it’s the first time… We should all have the glory of opening it.” Sirius laughed
“Feeling quite sentimental eh Prongs?” Sirius joked. James laughed
“Hey! It would be a great story to tell our children someday!” James said as his friends got out their wands. Remus rolled his eyes
“I can’t believe you’re already thinking of having children.” Said Remus
