Watching families pass by I wonder
When will I get a love like theirs
And in between these incoherent ponders
Are thoughts of you, I -- us

'Impossible,' I tell myself from time to time
'Never us,' My brain just can't seem to see
It's easier to make this poem rhyme
Than to halt my thoughts on what we could ever be

If I could go back to twenty-fourteen
Waltz back into college to the place we first met
Meet you again outside the office in those jeans
That you I knew, I'd memorize and never forget
