Dearest Tommy,

Don't worry. It'll take more than fuzzy monkeys to make me run. You'll have to use a spatula to peel me from your side from now on.

Thank you, too, for your herculean efforts of running in the snow just to meet me downtown. Do you want me to tell you a secret? Actually, the sight of you running in monkey pajamas towards me made me doubt the meaning of my life, but thankfully I was brave enough to stand my ground.

And thank you, too, for just sitting there and listening to me. With Minho not around, I'm pretty much quiet as a stick. I've got a lot in my head, and knowing that you understand--it makes my life easier, I guess.

Though I really wish that we didn't stay out in the cold till 4 oclock. I caught a bloody cold, too, and I just fell asleep in my last class. Minho's still not talking to me, though, which just sucks. I hate it when that shuck-face is angry at me. I hate it even more that he's not with me.

It's recess, and I'm writing this to you underneathe a tree overlooking the field. I can see Minho running around it, like he was like some casting for Chariots of Fire, and I know that he does that only when he needs to get something out of his head. So I think maybe he's just as disturbed as I am. Is this a greenlight?

I think the school will stop mailing out the letters during winter break. Before then, we MUST find an alternate way of talking (one that doesn't involve a friend's phone, a house phone, and the phone downtown, because I don't have enough pennies for that bloody thing.)

Also, a question: what's your favorite color? And are you allergic to any cloth material?

Yours sincerely,
Newt

PS. If we meet somewhere during or after winter break, then I'll return your jacket. I'll wash it too, just in case.
