Dansel In Distress

"You'll be fine won't you" my mum asked for the thousandth time in the day.

"Yes mum yes" I sighed as I saw her dabbing her eyes on a tissue.

"Okay I will miss you" she said hugging me.

"Will miss you too" I said.

My dad then pulled me into a hug.

"Bye Phil take care"

"Bye dad" I said.

"Love you honey"

"Love you guys too" I said.

"All right do you need help in unpacking or something"

"No mum I'll be fine" I said.

"Okay" she said and my parents waved and left.

I sighed. This was it. My first day of living alone, the day I've always waited for. I couldn't believe this was happening but it was and I was happy as hell.

I glanced around the depressing grey walls of my dorm room. There was an empty bed in front of mine. My roommate still hadn't reached. I wondered who it could be. Would it be a crazy sports fanatic sort of guy or could it be the kind of guy who parties all night or maybe some nerdy guy who hardly leaves the dorm. Any guy would be fine as long as we got along. The last thing I wanted was someone whom I hate to be my roommate.

It was already 20 minutes since my parents left and I should unpack I thought to myself. Unpacking was a tedious task and I wished I hadn't rejected my mum's offer to help me earlier. I put all my clothes in the tiny dresser and then proceeded to hang up some posters to give my room some color.

As I was sticking my Kill Bill poster on the wall I heard a noise followed by a loud crash and a woman's voice saying 'Oh Dan'. I turned around to see a boy lying face down on the ground, his parents standing next to him. He groans a little before standing up.

"Are you all right?" his dad asked.

"Yeah I'm fine" he said dusting his jeans.

"Please be careful Dan" his mother said.

"As if it's gonna help, I just keep falling anyway" he mumbled.

He then suddenly took notice of me standing staring at him.

"Um hi I am Phil your roommate"

"Hi I am Dan" Dan smiled. "Nice to meet you"

"Nice to meet you too" I said.

His parents said hello to me and smiled at me. I just smiled back. For the next half an hour so was filled with them bickering and Dan toppling over his desk which led to be another 'Be careful Dan'.

They finally left after tears, lots of hugs miss you and call me. I guess all parents are like that. Dan let out a long sigh and lied on his bed but his head hit the headboard.

"Ow fuck" he groaned.

From how long I've seen Dan is an extremely clumsy person. He saw me looking at him and gave me half a smile.

"So what are you majoring in?" he asked me.

"English, what about you?" I asked him.

"Law" he said making a face.

"Okay" I said.

Just then 2 girls came in knocking.

"Hey guys"

"Hey" we said.

"Welcome what are your names? One of them said.

"I am Dan" Dan said.
