Birthday Surprise

Summary : In which Phil has a birthday surprise planned for Dan

It was 8 in the morning when Dan's eyes opened all of a sudden. He looked around him to see that the spot beside him was empty. Phil had already woken up.

Dan yawned stretching his arms to the side and grabbed his phone from the table. He looked at the date.

June 11

It was his birthday. Maybe that is why Phil had woken up before him to wish him. Dan found that cute and he rushed to the kitchen. There Phil was sitting in the chair sipping his coffee.

"Hey, Dan," Phil said.

"'Morning Phil, " Dan said.

Dan's face turned into a frown. Only a good morning. No Happy Birthday. Or a kiss. Did Phil forget his birthday?

"Oh, and I made you some coffee. But you have to make the breakfast. And I want waffles" Phil said with puppy dog eyes.

"Okay," Dan said quietly as he took his coffee mug while searching for the waffle maker. He made the batter hardly concentrating on the work before him. All he could think was Phil forgot his birthday. How could he?

All of the birthdays Dan ever had with Phil were quite special. He remembered the time Phil threw Dan a surprise party right in the morning with all their friends or the time when Phil had baked Dan a chocolate cake for breakfast. And how he spoiled him with loads of gifts and this time, he didn't even remember his birthday. It hurt Dan.

Dan pulled out the waffles from the waffle makers drizzling them with lots of syrup and gave his plate to Phil.

"Thank you Danny", Phil said with a grin.

Dan smiled at Phil.

"Aren't you eating?" Phil asked him.

"No. I am not really hungry. I am just gonna take a shower"

"Okay"

Dan left the kitchen and went to the bathroom. He stood there for a long time until the water turned ice cold. Dan rubbed his body with a towel and stepped out wearing his black T-shirt and jeans.

"Hey, Dan," Phil said as soon as he came out.

"What?"

"I just got a call from a school friend. He is in town and he wants to meet me. Do you mind?"

"Of course not" Dan smiled even though he was hurt.

Phil smiled and hugged Dan before pecking his cheek.

"I am gonna leave now okay."

"Okay bye Phil."

"Bye Dan. I love you"

"I love you too"

Phil gave him one last kiss and left immediately. Dan felt alone than ever. So he decided to spend some time on his phone. He had received so many texts from all his friends wishing him a happy birthday.
