Thanks for being patient with me!

I walked into the school with huge grin on my face, clutching my books closely to me.
Yep, I was in a good mood. And can you guess why? There's only one word:
Elaine.
Yep, is was Elaine. It was so him. I thought it over last night because I couldn't go to sleep, and I thought it over while I was getting ready for school. I definitely see good in him. The way he smiled at me, and the way his eyes looked underneath my porch lights. He showed up on my doorstep last night! Hello? Only guys in romance movies and novels do that! Could it be a sign that we could be something more?
Oh, what the crap. He's Blake's guy friend which means he's a popular, too. There's no way he could he more than just the guy who consoles me. Not ever.
As I tried to go up the stairs carefully without tripping, I felt someone tap me on the shoulder.
I turned around and saw Elaine. His blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight (the school is a green school) and he gave me a very friendly smile.
"Oh, hey Elaine." I wasn't really nervous or shy around him. I mean, he's nice.
"Hey." He darted his beautiful eyes off to the side for a moment, and then they went back to melt into mines. "So, do you feel better?"
"Yeah. Actually, it's all thanks to you." I smiled lightly at him and then he smiled too. We did this for a couple of seconds until someone else decided to just come and ruin it.
"Denny, can I talk to you for a sec? It's - "
I broke my gaze from Elaine and turned around, and it was none other than Blake, who paused at what he was going to say. Ugh.
My morning is officially ruined.
Elaine turned to him and smiled, "Oh, hey dude. Just...talking to Denny."
Blake stared at the both of us, and then he cleared his throat awkwardly. I rolled my eyes.
He's probably thinking that someone as cool as Elaine shouldn't be talking to someone like me. What a jerk.
"Yeah, and you were flirting with her?" He asked with a smile.
"No. I wasn't." Elaine's face went serious, and I stiffened my back at Blake's accusation.
"Dude, I know that look you use whenever you're talking to a girl you're interested in." He accused, his green (sometimes blue) eyes dilating just a little.
Elaine rolled his eyes. "Whatever, man. I'm just trying to make her feel better." He turned back to me and smiled, "See you around. Are you coming to the game this afternoon?"
"Uh...I don't know. Maybe." I muttered to him. I actually forgot that the gorgeous Blake Weatherly was still there.
"Well you should come," He advised, glancing at Blake for support on his opinion. Blake just stared at him and didn't say anything. Elaine turned back to me, "There will be popcorn, drinks, and you'll find me in my number 15 football jersey."
"I'll see if I can." I assured with a nod of my head. Elaine just nodded back and walked off.
I stared at him as he walked off, dissolving into the other mass of students. I could feel my legs go wobbly and my cheeks go hot. I knew I was blushing, and I also knew I was grinning like an idiot.
"He's a pretty cool guy, isn't he?"
I quickly turned to Blake as soon as he said this. I didn't really want him talking to me, but I couldn't help but to gloat about Elaine.
