BLAKE
I drove quickly into the driveway of Elaine's house, highly irritated.
Right after Logan left my house, I rushed here right away. I had to stay calm at first to give away nothing, but then I lost it when the close was clear.
I knocked on his door impatiently, and as soon as it opened, I walked inside.
Elaine scanned me for a couple of seconds and shook his head lightly at my actions, and then he closed the door.
"What can I do for ya, dude?" He asked, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
"You made out with Denny." I initiated briefly.
"Yeah, I did. So?"
"So...she's...she's not your type, Elaine." I followed him as soon as he sighed and walked off into the dining part of his house. "This time, I'm not here to argue with you. I've known you for a while now and I know your taste in girls. And Denny is not it."
"What's it to you? Maybe I'm switching around a little. You know, keeping my options open." He snapped, his green eyes holding anger and confusion. I stared at him, knowing he was about to crack. Question is, what is he going to crack for?
"Tell me what's going on. I need to know." I muttered to him.
Elaine stared at me for a few seconds, and then he started chewing on his lips. He sighed.
I raised an eyebrow as if I couldn't wait for a confession any longer.
"Denny's a nice chick. But...you're right. She isn't my type." He finally admitted, waving his hand as a guester dismissively. He started to walk away from me until I stood in front of him. My face went serious, and I could tell he knew I wasn't playing around either.
"That's not all you have to tell me. I know there's more to it than just that." I claimed in a low voice.
"There's nothing more to say, man. Now get out of my house." He said angrily.
"I'm not going anywhere, Elaine. Not until you tell me what's up. Remember when I was upset and you told me we could tell each other anything because we're best friends?" I asked.
"Were...best friends." He corrected in a murmur. I looked at him for a second or so before I went back to talking.
"You can still tell me anything. We can put our bickering aside if you just tell me."
"And you won't say anything?"
"I won't." I promised.
Elaine looked at me hesitantly for a few seconds, until he sighed and cleared his throat. "Coach pays me to spin time with her."
I widened my eyes in pure shock. "What?"
"I think you heard me. I'm not repeating it anymore. It's bad enough I had to admit it to you."
"Why?" I questioned.
"I don't know. I guess he caught her crying or something. He thought it was because she hated being single. I guess he couldn't stand for his niece to be that way and so he paid me to talk to her and be friendly to her. It was right after you told me the situation between you and her. Then he gave me the directions to her house and I started comforting her. I didn't mean to take it far..." He trailed off, while I stared in shock, my mouth agape.
"You're leading her on for all the wrong reasons, man." I told him.
"You don't think I know that?" Elaine snapped at me. He buried his face in his hands, and then he groaned with frustration. "Ugh! I just felt so bad for her last night when she was upset. So I kissed her. And then somehow I found myself making out with her."
