I tried so hard, and yet so far! But in the end, it doesn't even matter.

"Uh...I hate school." Erica growled that following Monday morning, clutching her books close to her with her book bag strapped securely around her shoulders.
"Who doesn't?" I stared straight ahead, trying to keep my eyes out for Blake. We talked Sunday morning, but that was the last I heard from him, and I wanted to see him.
"Tell me about it. Ryan doesn't even go here!" Erica continued to whine, and I smirked softly to myself at her mentioning Ryan. Those two are becoming more intimate by the hours, I swear. They're around each other all the time, not to mention they can never stop talking about each other. I was with Ryan at the arcade last night because he wanted my opinion on how well he played. Logan was there, too. And man, Ryan couldn't keep Erica out of his mouth, not to mention his thoughts. Logan was annoyed, and you'd think that it would annoy me, but it didn't. "Denny, how am I supposed to bear looking at you and Blake holding hands when I'll think of my Ryan every time you guys do?!" She continued to panic, and I let out a small giggle.
"Erica, it's going to be okay. Alright?" I assured to her. We sat at a round table in the atrium. "I'm sure Ryan's thinking about you, too."
"He goes to a private prep school, Denny." Erica cried out, taking out her sketch pad and pencils. Erica usually drew if she was bored or frustrated and something bothered her. I could see she wanted to draw because she was getting frustrated with Ryan not enrolling in the same school as us. "That means rich girls who will be all over him! Can you imagine? Some filthy stuck up snob...flirting with my Ryan."
"He's really grown on you, hasn't he?" I raised an eyebrow, smiling at the same time.
"Nothing's funny, Denny." She started to sketch out a heart and shaded it, followed by adding fire around it. I gazed at the drawing and sighed of irritation.
"A heart on fire?" I questioned. "How does that symbolize your current emotions?"
"Because my heart is burning for Ryan!" She continued sketching really fast. I rolled my eyes and as soon as I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned around and gasped at who I saw...in the flesh! Ein.
"Ein! Hey!" I stood up from the table and gave him a big hug.
"Denny, Erica." He nodded in both of our directions for acknowledgement, and then his eyes lingered on Erica's drawing and back at me. "What's the drama queen drawing?"
"She misses her boyfriend." I stated, looking at him dead on. Erica continued to sketch, ignoring the fact that the both of us were talking about her.
"Really?" Ein pulled up a chair and sat down, "The Ryan guy?"
"How do you know?" I asked with a surprised smile.
"Erica basically texted me about him the whole time I was visiting my family in the mountains during Christmas break," Ein rolled his eyes for a second, his dark hair reflecting against the sunlight that the atrium gave the whole school. "It was annoying."
"That's probably why you started ignoring my texts, right?" Erica guessed, throwing her pencil on the table in a sudden flare of anger. Ein and I stared at her. He snorted, not really taking her seriously. I couldn't help but to giggle as well. Erica's always happy and bubbly, so it's hard seeing her angry. "Guys! I'm serious. Stop laughing! What if...what if a girl really is flirting with him? And he's...he's letting her do it?" She spat out in disgust.
"Isn't it all about trust? Look, you should just trust Ryan to not do those things." Ein suddenly stated smartly, crossing his arms and slumping in his chair lazily. Erica stared at him, and then turned to me.
