"Oh my god," Erica breathed through the phone that Saturday morning, the morning after me and Blake sat in silence and watched the stars. "Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod! You really did that with Blake?"
"Yeah," I twisted my fingers within the edge of my thick brown hair bang, smiling as I told her everything Blake and I did last night. From how he showed up on my porch step and sat beside me, all the way to where he gave me a necklace and watched the stars with me in...comfortable silence. The silence was nice. It was like our silence, owned by the two of us. I found myself grinning like a fool as I thought about this, that is, until Erica spoke up again.
"So what's the 411 between you two now? Are you two like, bf and gf now?" I could hear her popping gum through the phone, and it distracted me for a slight second, so I answered her question absently.
"I don't know to be honest," I shrugged while laying on my bed, "He didn't say. After a while or so, he just...left. He gave me a hug and we exchanged phone numbers and then that was it."
"He would've kissed you." She stated.
I rolled my eyes at her cliche comment. "Erica, just because Blake didn't kiss me does not mean he doesn't want me to be his girlfriend. It doesn't end like that all the time, you know. You watch too many chick flicks."
She giggled, "Sorry! Okay? But how do you think Allison will react?"
Ten pounds of force had come clashing into my body, in my chest area. I widened my eyes and gulped silently only for me to hear, "Allison?"
"Yeah, her." She claimed. I forgot about Allison! Ohmygod, she'll kill me with her own two hands!
"She's going to hate me." I murmured, feeling a headache creeping on. I pressed my hand to my forehead, closing my eyes from staring at the ceiling. Allison...I know she isn't going to let Blake go of just like that. I know she's going to try and win him back. And of course the first thing she's going to do is get rid of me.
Erica chuckled, "Doesn't she already?"
I frowned. She has a point. I sat up and shook my hair off my shoulders and it smacked against my back, "Erica, this isn't funny. What if she...kills me?"
"She can't because it's illegal."
Again, I rolled my eyes. It went silent for a while until I heard background noise through the phone. I cocked an eyebrow in curiosity, trying to listen.
"Um, I got to go. We'll talk about it some other time, okay? My mom is nagging me to death to wash the dishes and the sooner I wash them, the sooner she'll quit bugging me."
"Talk to you before Monday?" I made sure of.
"Definitely. Bye."
Before I could even conclude the conversation, she had already hung up. I tossed my phone onto my pillow and sighed, looking all across my room as I thought about facing Allison on Monday. I can't avoid her, no, because she has the same Chemistry class as me. I'll have to face her sooner or later. As soon as I started to get off my bed, my doorbell rung.
I went downstairs and peeked through the 'barely opacious' glass. It looked like Uncle Roy. Ohmygod, I thought to myself, Could I face him right now? I mean, after that move he pulled with paying Elaine to be friendly with me, I haven't been sure about Uncle Roy lately.
Either way, I opened the door.
"Denny. Is your mother here?" He asked.
"No." I glared at him and my eyes darkened even more, I bet.
