-AVA-

Alex and I walked a few steps behind the girls as their attention was completely taken hold of by a static ball someone who worked at the museum showed them, talking through how it works in words the 4 year olds would understand.

"They're totally engrossed." I nod in agreement, just watching them gasp in shock at the whole scenario which played out in front of them.

"Fingers crossed my one turns into a successful scientist or something," I watch Emma. "Something I could never be."

   "What do you mean?"

"I had Emma when I was young remember? The dream was to go to University, ever since I was little," He watches me intently, almost like he was trying to analyse my face. He always made me feel so insecure when he did that, in a good way... If there is a good way of making someone insecure. "I mean I don't regret her one bit, and never will... But there's always that 'what if' scenario."

"You can still go to University if you want."

"Have you seen the tuition fees?" I scoff at the suggestion. "I work in a bakery Alex, my parents' bakery, and all the money goes on bills."

"Who knows what the future could bring," I look back at him again, wondering what he meant by that. "All I know is that you're one of the smartest people I know."

"Yeah, you've already gotten me on the second date; you don't need to keep up with the flattery."

"No, I mean it," He accompanied his words with a slight chuckle. "You really are, and it would be silly for you not to go on and do something else than to just work in a bakery."

   "Do you think so?"

   "I know so."

"You massive cheese ball," We both burst out laughing, only to be stopped when Emma and Poppy run back towards us again. "What's up girls?"

"Mummy, can we see the rocket section now?"

"Of course you can," I smile, pulling the strap of my handbag over my shoulder again. "Let's go, I hear Doctor Who might be there," I tease both the girls as Emma held onto one of my hands, and Poppy held onto the other. "Are you coming?" I glance over my shoulder, looking towards Alex before I walked off with both of the girls. He only smiled at me, and nodded, following up to the next floor of the museum.

I kept a few steps behind them as I watched Ava interact with both Emma and Poppy.

I had never seen Poppy so happy to speak to someone before, she was always so nervous with speaking to adults. But here she is, happily chatting away to Ava about her day.

She has never been like that with any of my girlfriends either. It's a change I most definitely welcomed with open arms, that's for sure.

"How about after this, we get some lunch?" I suggest, causing both girls to cheer and run off towards the display right in front of us.

True to my word, after the rocket ship display, we were sitting at the space themed restaurant down below the actual museum. Both girls were in a completely serious discussion about the toy they had received in their meal, so serious that they couldn't understand why Ava and I were smiling at their words.

"Thank you for this," Ava turns to me again, sitting directly opposite me with Emma at her left hand side. "Emma wanted to come here for a long time, Logan was going to bring her but we're all just so busy with stuff."
