The next morning involved me ending up at the bakery again, having had the last few days off on the ever so helpful suggestion of my Mother who only wanted me to focus on that 'cute new boyfriend' of mine. She's so unhelpful in these times, she was the exact same with Tyler, and look where that ended up.
In the gutter... Quite literally.
As my shift came nearly to an end, I hand the receipt over to the customer, accompanying it with a smile before they walked out.
I looked down to the till to begin to count the takings for the day when I heard the doorbell go off as someone entered the shop.
"Hello," I spoke before even looking up, and stop when I realise it was Alex, stood there all proud of himself. "Well, here's a surprise."
"And why is that?" He tease with an eyebrow raise. "I just came in here for a slice of cake, is that so surprising?"
"Of all the cake shops in London you could have gone to?"
"This is my favourite cake shop," He then leaned in. "For more reasons than just the cake."
"And what other reason could that be?" I lean down on the counter as well.
"Well, it is a lovely view at this counter here."
"People do say my Mother looks younger for her age."
"Haha." He laughed off my mockery.
"I thought we were meeting at 7?" I ask, closing the till again.
"I just wanted cake," I only look at him. "Seriously, I just wanted cake!"
"Then what cake would you like, Mr Darkbloom?" I present to him the display cabinet of freshly baked items from the day.
"Whatever the staff recommends," I smirk at his boyish charm. "And it could help if the staff you know, gave a kiss along with the wonderful piece of cake."
"Oh really now?" I scoff. "I can call Jason down to make sure his hospitality rating doesn't go down for the shop and supply your extra demand along with the cake."
"You're full of it today, aren't ya? All this joking malarkey," I walked around the counter, folding my arms as I stood in front of him. "I like it."
"Good, because this is the girl you're going on a date with in 2 hours, so you have to leave so that she can go home and get ready."
"Please, the way you look right now, I thought you had already dolled up for the date well in advance. You look gorgeous."
"So much flattery in the space of three days, you really are desperate, aren't you?"
"Desperate for you, sure," I bite down on my bottom lip as I lean back onto the counter behind me. "Don't do that, really..."
"Why not?" I tried to suppress my smirk by biting down harder onto my lip, clearly driving him mad.
"Stop," He almost demanded before he gave a quick chuckle, offering a hug. I smile brightly, and accepted, wrapping my arms around his neck as he wrapped his around my waist, taking a quick intake of breath to smell my apple scented hair. "You're so naughty."
"Well, then there's so many things you don't know about me yet, Mr Darkbloom." I whispered back, and we were only broken apart from our hug when my Mother cleared her throat after she came through from the back of the shop, standing at the counter.
