-ALEX-

I groan as the rays of the sunlight outside my window shine through violently after Grayson pulls apart my curtains.

"How did you get into my room?" I squint as my vision tries to clear up, looking up at him from my pillow.

"Dude, there is like headlines about you and Luisa frigging EVERYWHERE right now," Is the first thing he says to me, causing me to blink repeatedly a few times before I fully register what he said.

"What are you talking about?" I sit up, reaching over and picking up my phone from the bedside table and bringing it over.

There are so many notifications on my screen, mainly from Twitter, but also a few texts from Luisa who I hung out with at the after party last night.

"Alex, what the heck? I leave you alone for a few minutes and this is what you get yourself into?" Grayson asks. "What about Ava?"

"What are you on about?!" I exclaim frustratedly, opening up Twitter to see the reaction to Lalex - the name made up from Luisa and mine's. "I'm not dating her though!"

"There are pictures of you two, everywhere!" He yells. "Oh and by the way, Aunty Janette's happy out of her mind that you may be dating her, because apparently Luisa is 'perfect daughter-in-law material'."

"This is mad!" I yell back. "I'm not dating her though! We just hung out!" I open up my messages to see what Luisa had messaged me, and all I read is

To Alex:

I had a really fun time last night! Maybe we should meet up again back in London. Call me handsome.

"Shit." I whisper to myself. "I'm going to have to call Ava."

"You yesterday were talking about how you're infatuated with Ava, and now you go ans do this?" He asks, genuinely pissed about this. "Man, you actually looked ecstatic about Ava, the way you talked about her and when you got messages from her. You've been the happiest I've ever seen!" He began yelling. "Why do you always mess it up for yourself?!"

"Mate, calm down!" I began yelling back in equal volume. "Because I'm struggling to see how you could even think I would mess around Ava when she makes me so happy! Dude you know me!" I point to myself. "Luisa and I just hung out last night as friends, nothing else happened!"

  "So what's with the rumours?"

"The rumours are there because being famous sucks!" I began getting angrier.

"You literally handed them the pictures on a plate, what else were they going to make up about them all?" He asks before pointing to the door. "I heard yelling coming from Katherine's room as well, she's probably pissed about it all too."

"But I'm not dating Luisa!" I yell again, opening up my phone again. "I'm calling Ava."

"If she really is sane, she'd drop your ass so fast," I ignore his words, putting the phone to my ear. I count the rings, and silently swear under my breath when it goes straight to voice mail. "So she is sane then."

"Shut up Grayson." I stand up from my bed, turning my back to him as I stand by the window, waiting for the beep. "Ava! Can you pick up please; I really, really, REALLY need to talk to you. Whatever you've seen, I promise you it's not what it looks like. Please pick up."

"She isn't going to pick up."

"Shut up Grayson!" I yell this time, turning to face him again. "Who made you such an expert in all of this, anyway?"

"Well who else is going to get you to see sense with all this nonsense?" He asks. "Seriously Alex, it's like you want to mess everything up for yourself."

"Why don't you back off Gray?" I storm past him, swinging open my hotel door with force. "And try and fix your own failure of a relationship before trying to interfere with mine?"

"Wow, you're really going to take this out on me? Your own mistake?" He scoffs, and then walks to the door. "I'll leave you to cool off then, call me when you've calmed down." And with that, he walked away down the corridor to his own room again.

When I had slammed the door shut behind him, I instantly started to feel guilty.

-AVA-

Jules stood behind me as I lowered Emma into her car seat and began to buckle her in.

"Ave, you're not even going to say anything?"

"What else can I say?" I snap, looking back at her. "He's found someone else, like ALL OF YOU warned me about, but I didn't listen. I'm more angry at myself than anything else." I closed the back door of my car and then opened the driver's side.

"He's been calling you like mad, at least answer the phone and let him explain."

"Explain what?" I ask. "There's nothing to explain."

"Listen to your messages and see what he's said!"

"Jules, why are you defending him?" I am genuinely confused at it all. "Is it because you're some sort of fan-girl or something?"

"No!" She yells a little too loudly, almost like my comment had offended her. "I'm defending him because he truly made you happy, and you know what being famous can be like! What if it's a made up rumour?!"

"That doesn't explain the pictures of them two all over each other, does it?"

"They were hardly all over one another," She replies as I climbed into the driver's seat. "At least listen to them."

"I'm not in the mood for this, Jules," I twist the key into the ignition and booted up my car to life. "I'll talk to you later; I'm heading straight to work from the nursery so lock up for me, yeah?"

And with that, I began reversing out into the street, and drove away.

"Mummy?" Emma's small voice chirps up, but I can tell how timid it was, signalling her nervousness over our raised voices. "Why are you and Aunty Jules fighting?"

"It's nothing, baby," I force a smile at her through the rear view mirror. "We're not fighting; it's just a silly thing we're talking about. You just have fun at nursery, yeah?"
