-AVA-
I reject another call from Alex, and doing so makes me feel even worse. I feel bad for blatantly ignoring him like this, because I do believe I may be slightly overreacting so soon in our 'relationship' or whatever you want to call it, but I don't want to deal with it. I have listened to his voice mails as he pleaded for me to pick up the phone, but I don't want to talk to him. I just want to be by myself.
I pull my jacket on, preparing to head off to go and collect Emma from school when my step-brother Logan enters the shop, eyes just on me.
"I told you." He walks up to the counter, causing me to groan as I turn away from him, picking up my keys from the table behind us. "I told you Ava that I didn't trust him."
"Well, maybe you're right then," I turn back to him again, placing my hands down on the counter. "And yeah I feel crap about it, but can we just not talk about it right now?"
"What do you mean?" He asks as I walked around the counter and opened the door, walking out into the sunshine outside. "He's literally been with a model last night."
"Wow, someone tell you you need to work on your social skills?" I ask as he follows me down the street towards my car. "Why is everyone acting like I need to be protected or something? We just dated a week. He clearly wasn't serious about me, and that's fine by me." I opened up the driver's side door of my car.
"It's just, after everything that happened with Tyler-"
"Is ancient history!" I snap, cutting him off. "I'm sorry Logan, but I am 22 years old. I have a child who I've been raising pretty much on my own since her birth! Tyler didn't want anything to do with us, and that's fine. Alex doesn't want anything to do with me either, and that's also fine. I'm fine."
"I don't think you are," He replies, causing me to sigh in disbelief as I place my face into my hands. "I actually want to like punch him in the face for what he's done."
"Don't worry," I look back up to him again. "Because you won't be seeing Alex around ever because he'll clearly be too busy with his new model girlfriend to have any time wandering about these parts of London or thinking about little old me here."
"You're upset, Ava," He continues despite my awful mood. "Why are you acting like you just want to ignore the entire situation?"
"I'm not upset!" I lie. "I'm just... Mildly frustrated, that's all."
"Really now?" He isn't overly convinced.
"Yes." I was adamant. "We only went on a few dates, and that is it. At most I'm probably..." I sigh, coming to the realisation. "A little... Jealous."
-ALEX-
I pace my hotel room, my open suitcase that was partially filled with my clothes lying on my bed, and my phone to my ear as I count the rings before Ava clearly sends it to voice mail again.
After sighing in pure frustration once more, I look down at my phone, and dialled once more.
"Come on, come on, come on," I whisper to myself before there was a knock at my door. I ignore it, thinking it was room service or what not, but when there was another knock again, I sigh once more before cutting off the call and walking over to my door, looking through the peephole to see my Mother there.
"What is this about you going back to England so soon Alexander?" She walks straight past me and into my room after I opened it. She glances around at my packing attempt, and then back at me again, arms folded and annoyance plastered across her face.
"I'm going to the London Premiere," I semi-lie. Yeah, I probably will go to the London premiere for Grayson, but the main reason I am going back was for Ava. "Grayson's taking me on his private plane."
"But what about our family time?" She is clearly pissed. "I mean, I can understand why you should go for the London premiere, but another main reason we were out here was to spend time together."
"But I really want to go." I try not to show my desperation. She'd only get suspicious and call me out on it immediately. "Please? We can go on another holiday later, but I think it would be good for our family name if at least one of us were seen at the London Premiere as well."
"I guess so," She exhales loudly, going into thought. "All right, go to the London premiere and we'll see you back in England next Thursday."
"Really?" I smile brightly, showing my relieved state. "Good, thank you Mother."
"You're welcome Alexander," She walks back to my open door, and before walking out, turns back to me and said "Make sure you take Luisa as your date."
"What?" I ask, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion. "But... I just met her."
"She's your girlfriend though, is she not?" She is equally as confused with my reply. "I saw the pictures, I even saw you two together last night"
"She's not my girlfriend," I tell her straight. "And I won't be inviting her to the London premiere as my date, I'm sorry."
"Why not?" My Mother looks annoyed. As usual. "She's a lovely girl, and you two fit well."
"Can you just drop it, please?" I put my hands together, almost as if I was pleading with her. "Can I just be left to my own devices to find a girl I like and want to date?"
"The last time you did that, we all remember what happened." She always, ALWAYS brings it up time and time again - what happened at University. It is her go to excuse for her meddling in my private life.
"And the last time you interfered, Katherine happened." At least one good thing came out from my short-lived car crash relationship with Katherine - a counterargument against my Mother. 3 weeks, remember? It was barely anything.
"That was not my fault." I have no idea whether she was joking or not. "Katherine seemed lovely..."
"Yeah, SEEMED," I repeat. "But she clearly isn't, and now she's out to ruin my reputation and if you hadn't meddled in the first place, I could have steered clear of her."
"Like you didn't like her yourself Alexander," She scoffs. "You wouldn't have asked her out on a date if you didn't like her."
"All right, yes, I liked her," I admit. Painfully. "But I need to make all these dating mistakes by myself, without my Mother in the background trying to manage everything for me. University was a long time ago."
"Not long enough." And with that, she turns around and waltzes out of my room.
