-ALEX-
Sitting at the dining table with my entire family always seemed like the worst idea anyone could ever come up with, especially with the family I end up coming from. It always descended into chaos, and usually ended with all of us not speaking to one another. The media had us down as one of those families that are extremely close, generous with their wealth and loves one another and would do anything for one another. Unconditional love - yeah, sure.
I always told people never to believe everything they read on the internet. Especially in this case.
I want nothing more than to not be at this dinner table. I want to be with Ava and Emma so bad instead of listening to mediocre nonsense about record deals, TV interviews and magazine articles. Even on my birthday those are the topics of conversation. They are always the topics of conversation around here.
Grayson sat next to me, occasionally glancing at me and then to Stefan again, wondering whether he would spill or not.
My attention though was caught when my Mother started speaking up. "So, Alexander," She takes a sip of her drink, ignoring my facial expression at her saying my full first name. I have always told her I preferred Alex, but as you can see; my Mother isn't one to listen to other people other than herself. "Guess who is now single again," Great. "Charlotte Digby, remember the girl you used to have a huge crush on all the way through your schooling years?"
"Haha, Mum's trying to set you up again." Charles laughed out loud at my expense, causing me to roll my eyes in response.
"Why would I care about that?" I ask flatly.
"I was thinking," Here we go. "Why don't you ask her out for a date?" Charles burst out laughing again, only to be silenced when I glared at him, and then turned back to my Mother.
"No thank you." I reply, reaching over to grab my glass of water, and took a sip.
"Why not?" Her smile was now completely gone, and she furrows her eyebrows in disappointment. "You had the biggest crush, and she comes from an amazing family."
"But she always was with George," Stefan spoke up now. "I remember how much you fancied her dude, you should totally go for Charlotte, she's much more suited for you than Ava is." A glare of death is what only can be used to describe the look I shot towards my little brother, completely pissed that he would bring this up in front of our parents so casually when I told him I would do it in my own time.
"And um," Grayson clears his throat. "I heard Charlotte isn't a very nice person, so I'd rather not do that mate." At least he had my back.
"Isn't that the girl that ruined Madeline's christening?" Aunt Holly tries her best also to gloss over the Ava comment from Stefan, trying to take everyone's attention off of it.
"Well, well, well," My Father puts his fork down on the table, beaming with pride. "Who is this Ava person then?"
I stay silent for a few seconds, looking over at Grayson first who had nothing. There was no way out of it now.
"She's my girlfriend," I decide to admit it. I know I am immensely serious about Ava as it has been almost 3 months with her, so they'd have to know sometime, even if I don't want them near Ava and Emma for very obvious reasons.
"This should be fun." Charles reviles in the situation, putting his fork down also and folds his arms, waiting for it to kick off. Everyone knew it was going to kick off if it involved my Mother.
"And why would Ava not be suited for Alexander?" My Mother asks Stefan, raising an eyebrow as she waited for his response.
"A whole array of reasons, Mother," Stefan's answer pisses me off even more. "I mean, she's not exactly Alex's usual for a start."
