Once I got home, I hopped in the shower before taking an extremely necessary nap. When I woke up, I went to go find my mom in her room looking over some contracts.

"Hey Mom" I said climbing into her bed and giving her a kiss

"What's up munchkin?" my mom said kissing my forehead

"Ma, I'm 18. Is that nickname even appropriate anymore?" I asked

"You're my only child, and you're significantly shorter than me. You'll always be my munchkin" she said resting her head on mine

"I guess" I said shrugging "How am I this short anyway? It doesn't even make sense, I thought dad was tall"

"Barely" she said with a laugh "He was only about 5'10."

"Well that's not that short" I smiled. I don't remember much about my father, but he seemed like a giant to me as a kid "I have a question though"

"Shoot" she said sitting up, and closing her papers so I could have all her attention

"Well today Sean Bankhead came to teach my class. He asked a few of the people from my class to come out to LA and dance with him in his production and I was one of them."

"Jordan, look..."

"Mom, I'll be out there with Monroe, and I won't be dancing for free. I'm getting paid, a good price too. Ma I know you don't agree with me dancing so seriously but please let me do this" I said pleading with her

"Let me think about it baby, I promise I will" She said putting her glasses back on and going back to work.

"Okay" I sighed as I got up to leave the room a bit disappointed. I went back to my room and picked up my phone to face time my Aunt

"Hello" she said into the phone

"Hey, Auntie Nicki" My Aunt ieNicki was my father's sister. After my dad died when I was 7, she pretty much took over somewhat as my father figure. Whenever my mom needed help, she was always there to do so. When my dad died, she also made sure that I never stopped dancing.

"What's up baby?" she smiled

"Nothing much, I just finished asking my mom if I could go to LA for a while" I said and she furrowed her eyebrows

"What's in LA?" she asked sounding very interested

"I took a class today with Sean Bankhead and he offered to fly me out to LA so I could dance with him in this production that he's putting on. Mom said she's gonna think about it but you know how she is. She barely likes me dancing, I'm sure she's hoping I don't ask again so she can pretend she forgot about it" I said causing her to giggle

"Oh, I see. You want me to come over there and talk to her in the morning?" she said and I nodded. I don't know what it was with my Aunt, but she always had a way of being able to convince my mom to do things

"Yes, I would love that" she said laughing at the excitement she heard in my voice "I'll come over in the morning and talk to her"

"Thank you so much Auntie!" I said placing a hug smile on my face

"Anything for you baby, but I've gotta go. My kids are tearing up the house" she said

"Okay, give my cousins kisses for me"

"I will, love you baby" she said hanging up the phone

I put my phone on the charger and fell back on my bed feeling a little better. I knew my Aunt could convince my mom of almost anything and I instantly became less worried. In a couple of weeks, I'll be in LA enjoying my summer and dancing my life away
