Chapter TWENTY-THREE
Lex's POV
The local and surrounding areas new's was going crazy. 'The Bremin Four return after two weeks in rough terrain and bring with them a mysterious girl! Is she a kidnapper? A bogan? A lover? Her records are unknown. This will be their first media appearance since the disappearance'.
I hated the attention we were receiving and I felt guilty for ramping it up since I had arrived. I wondered if it was like this for my parents, if they experienced the same thing I'm experiencing now. Felix tells me not to worry, that it'll all be over soon. Yeah, because that's so likely!
"Are you sure that your parents are okay with me sleeping here Felix?" I asked again.
"I'm sure about it" Felix placed a comforting hand on my upper arm.
I wearily smiled. This interview thing we had to do for the news was terrifying me. I admit, something that terrify's me is not heights, spiders or the dark. Its journalist's bugging me. Go ahead, laugh, make jokes. I dare you.
I knew we were planning to meet Jake, Sam and Andy there. Felix's mother was planning to drive us there around the back so they wouldn't bombard us like celebrities. I put on a smile, ignored the worrying butterflies in my stomach and held my chin high. I can do this, I've battled demons for gods sake. I can do this.

I sat on one side of the long table with Sam and Felix beside me. Reporters and family was on the other side. The mass of cameras and microphones intimdated me. I looked over to Felix breifly who kept a straight face on his parents. It made me weary but I kept strong.
"How come none of you were found with dehydration?" A reporter asked.
I looked down to Jake at the end of the table.
"I don't know" He answered.
They didn't look so pleased with that answer. In fact, no one did, not even their parents. I just couldn't help but feel responsible for everything. Maybe if I just made it here without using them they would be okay? I could have just got them out of my world and let the demons take me. That would have been so much easier for them.
"Where were you boys in those two weeks?" Another reporter asked.
Before any of us could come up with an excuse, Andy interrupted.
"We fell down a cliff where there had to be some kind of portal or black hole and there were magic and-"
Andy stopped suddenly. I noticed Felix was digging his nails into the side of Andy's thigh. I was getting a headache, all these cameras flashing and microphones in my face wasn't doing me any good.
"Who is this girl? How is she involved in your disappearance?" Another asked.
"She is Lex, our friend and... saviour" Sam butted in, looking to me briefly.
I smiled up at him, trying to keep my head down. I didn't like the look of these reporters. I could see the headlines tomorrow; 'Bremin boy comes back with a girlfriend'. What a scam. Oh the things I would do to destroy those reporters.
I looked up at the sound of anythwr reporters voice, letting Felix answer all the questions. There was Jakes mother. And Bates. I had to keep reminding myself that in this world, he wasn't bad. But it was tough, knowing what he's done to me. I still have slight scars on my arm from the first encounter with him and the weird boys.
The ground shook. Then again. And again. This wasn't normal in Bremin. I quickly stood, the chair shrieking behind me. I looked over to Jake who looked strongly towards his mother and Bates. It was him.
Everyone else stood up, holding out for support and screaming 'earthquake'. I rolled my eyes at them and grabbed Jake's hand. Pulling him along, I rushed out the back door and out down the path. I could see reporters and the rest of our friends chasing after us.
I needed to get Jake away from them. I knew seeing Bates and his mum was upsetting him. We stopped at a garden clearing, I squeezed his hand and hugged him. I softly whispered to him to calm down.
"Shhh... it's okay...." I smiled, letting go.
I took a deep breath "What on earth were you thinking? Oh I know, let me cause a bloody earthquake on one of the most stable tectonic plates on the planet!"
Jake sat down on the grass, rolling his eyes at my sarcastic comment. The rest of the boys arrived, staring at both of us.
"Didn't you guys care to tell us what you were doing?" Felix snapped. "Our parents are worried sick!"
"I had to get Jake out of there, he was causing an earthquake!" I glared at Felix. "I didn't particularly want to be outted"
So, it's been a while. I'm very sorry. But I'll update from now onwards. Next chapter will be the party. Thank you for understanding
