Chapter TWO

Spying & Punching

Lex's POV

The next day of school was a bother, as normal. In Science Mrs Flame was being the weird, quirky yet loveable teacher she was and showing us an experiment. I crossed my legs under the table at the back, on my own as normal may I add. Science is one of my favourite subjects at it, I'm a total nerd at Science but I don't like to tell anyone.

"Miss Lex" Mrs Flame asked, the whole class looked at me, some even laughed. "Are you listening?"

"Yes Mrs Flame" I perked up. She nodded and continued blabbering on about neutrons in the chemicals.

A few minutes later we had to get into pairs, everyone went with anyone but me. i stood there awkwardly as normal but surprisingly I wasn't alone. Jake didn't have a partner.

"Jake, C'mon" I waved my hand, moving over to a bench.

"Do you know what we have to do?" Jake asked as he grabbed our equipment.

"Of course, this is the easiest experiment ever" I laughed. "Measure this out to 12 mLs" I handed Jake a large bottle and a small tube with transparent green liquid while I did the same with the purple.

I slowly poured the purple liquid into the green and it lost its clearness becoming a un-see-through swirling liquid.

"Great Job Lex and Jake!" Mrs Flame congratulated, holding up our bottle.

"Looks like freaks good for something" Some popular douche coughed.

Recess and periods 3 & 4 went as fast as they could which was extremely, I was left alone all recess too.

I left the buildings a bit late and all I heard was chanting. No one was at the foot ball field or benches. Everyone was surrounding the basketball court.

I raced there, fear ran through my veins. I pushed my way through the crowd getting remarks. In the middle of the growing circle was Sam and Sammy, having a punch on. Sam! That idiot! What did he do this time?!

"HEY!" I yelled, barging into the fight.

"What does a freak like you want?!" Sammy spat.

"Get away from him!" I screamed. I balled my right fist and connected it with jaw, he fell to the floor with shock and everyone around us fell silent.

Sam already had a black eye and Sammy was clutching his jaw, redness and slight purpleness beginning to invade his face.

"That's what you get, Jerk!" I scowled, I turned around and there stood Mr Bates with his arms crossed.

"Miss Adver" He coldly remarked. "Can you please go to the principals office?"

"Of Course" I mumbled, grabbing my backpack off the ground and pushing past everyone and heading into the buildings.

I arrived in the principals office, sitting there quietly. I crossed my legs and threw my head back over the seat.

"Miss Lex" The Principal greeted. I sat up properly.

"Why did you punch Sammy?" He asked, resting his elbows on his chair and leaning back.

"I was sticking up for my friend" I sighed reluctantly.

"Fine but you have a detention on..." He trailed off looking at a clipboard. "You have a detention on Thursday at Lunch, for now you have to sit outside my office until home time"
