Chapter SIXTEEN

Out in the Wild

Lex's POV

"Here" Felix stopped us, looking down at the drop in front of us.

"I remember it now" Sam nodded in agreement.

I nervously gulped, looking down over the high drop made me nervous. The drop that Felix and I made wasnt this high. I glanced over to Andy who was trying not to laugh at me. I backed away from the drop, my nerves getting more of me.

"Lexus, its just a few sticks and plants- nothing compared to our drop" Felix reasoned with me, smirking widly.

"Yes it is! Its bigger!" I complained "How did you guys fall down here?!"

Before anyone could answer Jake hugged me and knocked us over the edge. I closed my eyes tightly, fearing I was going to get hurt.

I heard tumbling after we finally came to a stop, Sam yelling and Andy loudly complaining with Felix.

"Don't open your eyes Sam!" Andy hurriedly yelled.

I pushed Jake off me and got up, looking at the wincing Sam on the floor. He was grasping his calf for dear life. Is he okay?

I bent down to run his back "Your not okay, what's wrong?"

I looked down to his calf and pushed away his hand. His calf had a gash in it from falling down here. I drowned out everyone else and rubbed away the slow blood that was coming out of his cut.

Every sound was dulled out, Andy was trying to help but I slapped his hands away. I didn't want to be interrupted, I knew what I was doing. I had done this for myself plenty of times.

I took a chance and tore off one my shirt sleeve and tore off to the knee with one leg. The tear was messy and unclean but I didn't care. Stringy bits were now all over my leg but I needed to get his cut unexposed until we got medical attention.

I tied the wider leg half around the leg area of Sam's cut tightly as possible before tying the thinner one of the top, even tighter. I finally sat back, looking at my progress.

"It's okay Sam, stand up" I beckoned, holding my hand out for him.

I helped him up, the other boys speechless. Andy was looking down at my hands unlike Jake and Felix which was certainly worrying me.

"Lex, your hands are covered in Sams blood" Andy spoke.

The tips of my hands were covered in the dry and some wet blood. I soon realised what I did and it surprised me. I just cleaned a wound without even thinking.

'That was... really cool but we need to get going" Felix pushed the subject forward.

______

The 5 of us stopped in a stunned silence. Crunching echoed around us and we tried to find the location.

"You shouldn't be here" A gravely voice interrupted.

An middle-ages man that had sticks in his hair and straggly beard. The boys faces lit up in happiness but I was confused.

"Roland!" Felix excitedly laughed.

"Who are you?" The man pointed to me with his stick.

"Lex Adver" I introduced myself.

"I've heard about you" Roland turned around, wanting us to follow him.

We followed him over fallen trees and stones. Jake lead me to the back and told me to watch my back.

"He's a little crazy ok?" He checked, beginning to walk again.

"Okay, why does he live in the forest though?" I asked.

Jake rolled his eyes "Like I said, crazy"

Soon enough we arrived at some kind of shack where a few boxes were stacked and a small clearing with a pile of ashes.

"Great! I'm starving!" Sam tucked into a leftover meal.

I rolled my eyes at his stupidness. I sat down on a log, Andy and Felix came to join me. The suspicious Roland guy kept on blabbering about how stupid we were to come here. To me he was creepy and strange, he didn't get my trust just yet.

"Students what are you doing" Mr Bates rushed over, grabbing Felix and Sams arm.

I clambered over to Felix with Andy and Jake. He pulled us away and back to the trail that wasn't too far away. It was silent among us except for Mr Bates arguing on about how we've 'ruined' the field trip.

When we arrived at the picnic tables everyone use groaned when they saw us. Admittedly, I was cowering under their hateful stares. Since there wasn't enough time left until the bus arrived again we were allowed to adventure around the small picnic area.

I ducked under the branch and looked around the mossy undergrowth of the trees. The crunching around me stopped and I turned around to see Trent.

"That was pretty badass of you Lex, it was hot" Trent smirked.

"Well your face is pretty not hot but yet your enjoying it" I sassed, winding my way through the trees and back out into the clearing.

I quietly jogged back away from that area and to the other side where I saw Felix enter. I knew it was useless to go with Sam or Andy since Sam was walking after Mia and Andy was loved-up with Ellen.

"Are you okay Lex? You look like you've seen a ghost" Felix asked.

I am glad he appeared beside me. I needed to not be alone Trent, he was creeping me out and bullied defenceless kids. I hugged Felix, not caring who was watching.

"Hey now Adver, your okay now" Felix rubbed my back.

"Trent was just being a jerk" I muttered.

A few minutes later the bus arrived and we all assembled ourselves into seats. I sat with Felix at the very back corner, I was on the window side because he knew how Trent was around me. We quietly talked about the talisman which was around Felix's neck. The talisman suited him, it was nice.

________

"Guys it getting dark" Andy motioned for us to head into the shake.

We all head inside, all squashed onto the hay bails we could sit on. Felix went to light a lantern but I stopped him, smiling so he trusted me.

"Let me"

I clicked my fingers inside the lantern and it lit up, a small flame rising up. I sat down in the middle of the circle with the lantern in my hands.

[This was so boring but who cares not me. I made Trent such a creep.

I'm so sorry about this chapter though, it was so rushed because I'm leaving for NSW tomorrow for an emergency but I didn't want to leave you empty handed
