Chapter EIGHT
Lex's POV
That night we spent it back at my house, within its walls of safety. Well...fences of safety because right now we were huddling around the backyard fire pit, watching the fire dance.
"The fires warm" Andy commented, wrapping his hands around a mug of hot chocolate.
"Lighting can make fire" I smirked
cheekily.
"Fire kills people" Felix remarked, poking a stick at the fire.
"People kill fire with water" Sam joined in, ripping open a bag of marshmallows.
"Marshmallow" Jake and I laughed in unison. We grinned at each other at our stupid strange speaking. Sam threw us one each.
I wrapped an extra blanket around my shoulders, clinging into them softly.
"Cold?" Andy asked.
"Obviously" I scoffed.
"See? She ruined the moment!" Sam pointed out, throwing his arms up in triumph. "Shes love innocent!"
"Am not" I stubbornly crossed my arms. Pfft, who's he calling innocent!
"Innocent until she's kicking someone's ass!" Jake laughed, leaning back in his chair.
I leaned back on the grass, looking up at the deep purple sky. Stars lazily dotted the sky, all being different in their own unique way. .When I was younger I used to climb onto the roof and stare up at the stars, I love stars.
I reached up to reach them, like a baby in a cot but I failed.
"What's wrong? is she hallucinating?" Felix asked with a hint of fear in his voice.
"No, just looking at the stars" I murmured.
"They are pretty cool" Andy agreed.
Yes, indeed they were.
---
I couldn't remember most of the night but all I remember is that we talked about random things and we laughed alot. I also remember falling asleep about 1:30.
I flickered my eyes open, blinking slightly. I was on the couch, yawning. how did I get here?! I heard shuffling before the stairs and peaked up.
"Quickly, whiles Shes still asleep!" Felix whispered, just as Andy, Sam, Jake and himself rushed upstairs. Suspicious...
I sat up, rubbing my eyes and throwing my legs over the edge of the sofa, cracking my neck. I couldn't smell any food so I was guessing they still hadn't found the toaster.
I made my way to the kitchen and grabbed the toaster and a plate from a few drawers and some vegemite and bread from the cupboard. As soon as I pushed down the leaver on the toaster I heard grumbling come from the direction of the stairway. I turned to face some angry looking boys.
"What were you hiding in there?! You could of told us!" Jake grumbled, slamming his fist on the bench.
"You... you went in the room?" I shuttered, emphasising room.
Yes, the black room. They went behind my back to go in there?! I could punch them in the face right now but, they were my friends. My hands began to nervously shake with terror. I was planning to tell them when I got to trust them more but they went ahead being curious George times 4. Great one Lexus, Great one.
"Yes and we can't believe you didn't tell us" Felix mumbled. "Why do you have them?"
"Just come on, I'll explain" I sighed, turning the corner and beginning to walk up the suddenly scary stairs.
I steadily opened the chrome door knob, taking a deep nervous breath. Sam, Jake, Andy and Felix waited behind me, totally not being scary at all. I pushed the door and walked into the centre of the medium sized room. On the far left was a black walk-in-wardrobe. The walls were a deep grey and the floor was a pure black timber. In the centre where I was standing was jagged lighting bolts coming from a crooked and pointy circle. I grimaced at the sight of it since it brought back a lot of memories of spending numerous hours sitting there, alone.
"These lighting bolts happened because of me" I reluctantly breathed out. "I train in here to not kill anyone when they touch my hands, that's why I wear gloves" I pinched at the black gloves on my hands.
I moved over to the double doors of the walk-in-wardrobe. I grabbed the black handle and pulled to towards me, opening up the doors. It was about a metre long and it was covered in shelves. Black shelves may I add. Right in front of the door on the back wall was 2 daggers inside a glass case on a red velvet pillow. On the left side was family pictures. On the right was a few boxes with my uncles magic things and a area separate for selected amount of book of shadows. 3 to be exact and about certain topics.
"I'm sorry" I whispered, ducking my head down. I couldn't believe I didn't let them know, not let them know about all the things that could of helped them.
"Why do you have these dagger's?" Jake pouted to the glass case.
"They were my mums and dads, they wanted me to turn them into a family heirloom" I admitted "They kept us safe"
"There's so many boxes of photos" Andy wowed, pulling down a box from a shelf.
"Yeah, there's some from about 50 years ago" I smiled.
"Haha that's a cute one of you" Sam pointed to a picture of a blonde and brown headed 3 year old and a lollipop. He was looking through all the latest photos.
"How come you didn't at least show me these books?" Felix annoyingly sighed, flicking through the thick book of shadows. "We could of used these so many times"
"I promised my uncle I would save them to be shared" I explained. Felix kept on flicking through them, smirking at a few. "Yeah, my uncle was a big joker and pranker"
I smiled at the fact that he was slightly laughing at my uncles few silly spells.
"So... about breakfast cause I'm hun-gree!" Sam turned to me.
