Chapter Twenty One
The FoodLexs POV
Time was not our friend. Im sure I've covered that topic before. Mia kept on pushing my anger limits, I don't know what I would of done if Jake or Felix weren't there.b
Jake and I were alone in the back of phoebes shop, Felix, Andy and Sam off somewhere. I couldn't remember where though, Felix saying something about homes and such.
"Why are there old, mouldy jars?" Jake asked, pulling a grossed out face.
"I don't know" I shrugged, I pulled out and drawer.
In the drawer were 4 voodoo dolls that looked like the four boy. I laughed and picked up Andys, a small torn shirt put onto the doll.
"This doesn't look like anything like him" I giggled, holding it up to Jake.
"You can't be serious!" Jake laughed, grabbing another voodoo doll out from the drawer.
Together we laughed at the poorly made voodoo dolls that obviously didn't seem to work. My gaze fell to the shelving of jars and boxes, suspicious looking things on the shelves. Musty old jars full of greenish liquids stood tall, nearly bumping the shelf above it. I gently tapped the glass of one, my nail making a ricocheting noise. Whatever it was inside, it moved.
Gross and Creepy. I moved away from it slightly scared it was alive. I nearly screamed, Jake putting something slimy and olive looking in his mouth.
"Jake!" I slammed the jar down out of his hands, the glass smashing on the ground.
The green liquid spilled all over the floor, strange green stems laid on the carpet and the glass everywhere. I glared at Jake for being so stupid, doesn’t he have any common sense?!
"Never, ever, eat anything that's been in a jar for probably over three years!" I snapped, anger raging through me.
Jake burped loudly, blinking a lot and groaning "I don't feel so well"
I sighed, not believing how temperament Jake made me. I grabbed his hand and dragged Jake out of the shop before Phoebe could blame us.
I quickly jogged down the path to the way back to the shack. Jake groaned and pulled me back, a hazy look in his eyes.
"I think... I think I need to sit down" He sighed, falling down to lean against the fence.
I leaned down to his sitting height beside him, worry quickly covering me. I gently tapped Jakes cheek, the green showing up even more. He was barely responding which scared me, a miscellaneous sound erupting from his throat.
Looking around I couldn't see anyone. Instead, I ran down to the Chinese restaurant. Andys grandmother was wheeling a small basket in my direction. She was my only current hope.
"Can you please help me? My friend is suddenly ill" I begged her, pointing to Jake on the side of the road.
"No" She commented, walking past me.
"Please, I'll work a shift in the restaurant" I tried to reason.
"Where is he?" She asked finally agreeing with me.
I lead the elderly woman up the slight slope to Jake, groaning in misery. She leaned down to him, poking his cheeks and checking his forehead.
"Tongue" She commanded, tapping jakes chin.
He let his tongue out and she checked it, gazing at it intensely then standing properly.
"Take him to restaurant, I will fix boy there" She began walking back to the building, her trolley clicking behind her.
"Thank you Lex" Jake grumbled, a sense of actual gratitude in his voice.
I wearily smiled, hauling him up and allowing him to lean on me. We slowly trotted along the road and into the back of the restaurant, letting Jake lean against the metal table.
The elderly woman gently gave Jake some kind of mixture of leaves. He digested them, pulling a disgusted face. His face slowly got less green and slowly didn't look like death warmed up.
"Thank you so much" Jake thanked her, a happy and less tired tone to his voice.
In the corner of my eye I could see Andy, Felix and Sam. I waved and Andy and Sam ran in, Felix ran to someone else.
"Hey you two" I smiled.
They were about to speak when Andy’s grandmother interrupted them, pushing Jake and I towards them "You owe me more than these two- you work instead of useless boy and strange girl!"
Jake and I were very confused but we were pushing out of the door, Sam and Andy doing the hard work for us. I mouthed sorry to them, the door slamming shut behind us.
"Now what?" Jake asked.
"Let’s go see Felix" I shrugged my shoulders.
We walked around the building to the proper entrance, Felix standing there with his family.
"Lex, Jake" Felix excitedly exclaimed, rushing over to us.
Felix walked us over to his family, his arm subtly grazing my own. Oscar smiled in my direction, a small wave.
"Felix, who are these?" His mother asked.
"These are my best friends, Lex and Jake" Felix introduced us.
I stuck out my hand for either his mother or father to shake, trying to as mannerly and polite as possible. His father took it and Jake copied my action.
"Would you like to have dinner with us?" Mrs. Ferne suggested, making Felix even happier.
"That would be nice Ms. Ferne" Jake smiled. “Thank you”
Jake and I got a seat at the table with Felix and his family. I sat between Felix and Jake, directly across from his father. His glares at me made me suspicious that he thought I was Felix's girlfriend, the glares were cold and forgiving as if he wanted revenge.
"So boys and girl, how's school?" Mrs. Ferne asked.
"It's great, it's where Jake and I met Lexus" Felix excitedly exclaimed.
"Oh, really?" Mrs. Ferne acted surprised.
I nodded and smiled, but my eyes were drawn to the talisman on Felix’s chest. It was glowing, my breath hitched in nerves and my eyes wide. Quickly, I stabbed Felix in the foot with my own, looking at his furious eyes and looking down then back up, signalling for him to look down. The look on his face was expected, hinting that if we were without adults he would of sworn. I turned my head and Nai Nai swung a large chef’s knife, straight through the space between Felix and I onto the chicken. I screamed eternally, my hand was there moments ago. I froze and my hands began to shake, that was the closest I’ve ever been to my hand chopping off.
"Oh, i must of forgot to cut this" She simply shrugged.
My mind got dizzy and I clutched the table to be sure not to fall, something isn’t right- its horribly wrong. The feeling inside me felt like cramps mixed with butterflies about a disgusting boy. Whatever this feeling was it wasn’t good and I don’t think it’s going to get better for a while.
all I hear is chanting of 'JAX JAX JAX' and all I wanna do is scream 'plot twist; LANDY' but they aren't meant to be. If you ship them- sorry :(
