Chapter 36: He's gone...

Lucy's PoV

It's my time... I'll miss you Fairy Tail... I'll miss you mom, dad and Zeref... I'll miss you team Natsu... I'll miss you Natsu... I thought as I felt my magic power and life force being slowly sucked out of me. I looked at my hands and my skin was turning even more pale than usual. Soon, I felt my body grow weak and the darkness was growing closer. I'm sorry everyone. But this is for the best. Tears fell down my cheeks as I let the darkness take over and I fell back, leaving everybody behind. I'm sorry Natsu, I love you.

I opened my eyes again and saw light all around me. I'm here, now all I have to do is wait. I thought. I was in my mind. I saw my memories of my childhood, the time I had spent with Jude, Fairy Tail, the Grand Magic Games, my time in the dragon realm and finally the months leading up to this point. More and more tears poured down my face. Then, I saw the time I was at the dragon realm again, but it wasn't in my perspective. Also, everybody seemed older than now. What is this? I asked myself, my thoughts echoing around me. Everyone was upset, depressed, in mourning. Then someone opened the doors. "She's not dead!" I looked down from everyone to the doors. Natsu stood there. He wasn't the same. His clothes were tattered and his hair was a mess, more than usual anyway. "She's the dragon queen! She can't be dead!" He screamed again. "Let it go Natsu! We can't being back the dead!" Gray cried angrily. "Natsu. It's been a year. You need to move on." Lizanna walked to his side. She put her hand on his shoulder. He quickly slapped it away. "No! SHE'S NOT DEAD!" He cried again and collapsed to his knees while clutching his head in agony. Natsu. I felt even more tears fall down my face, if it were possible.

Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I quickly swirled around and saw Zeref standing there with a warming, but sad, smile on him face. "Zeref! How did you get here?" I stepped back and realised I was floating. "Sister. It's time to return. You don't want your guild and family to turn out like this, do you?" He asked, cocking his head. "What do you mean? You can't help me. I made sure of that." I mumbled the last part. "Oh Lulu. Do you not have any faith in that solid script Mage friend of yours?" He chuckled. My eyes grew at what he said. "No! Zeref you can't! This is my destiny! You can't die because of me!" I hugged him tightly, hoping it would change his mind. "You can't stop me sister." He hugged me as well and began to chant something. "NO! ZEREF!" I cried as a light appeared on his chest. "I can be with Mavis now. I'll cone visit you Lucy. I promise. Please don't cry." He placed a hand on my cheek. "ZZZEEEERRREEEEEFFFFF!" I cried as everything around us disappeared and the light enveloped him. "Fair well Lucy. Good luck with Natsu!" He waved with a smile on his face defore he entirely disappeared. "ZEREF!" I collapsed and slowly fell unconscious.

Natsu's PoV

After a while, we heard the wind get stronger and instantly stop. "Has it happened?" Wendy asked. "It's done. You should be able to wake her now." A voice said behind us. "Thank Zeref." Layla mumbled and we all walked out the shelter, without looking behind us. The second I got out I smelt Lucy and ran to where the smell originated. Soon I came across her room and pushed the doors wide open. There I saw the standard pile of grass in the centre of the room. I ran up to it and started ripping it to shreds. Soon I come across Lucy. She had tears running down her milky white face. Suddenly, she wakes up and starts breathing in heavily. She looked as if she was having some sort of panic attack. "Luce. Luce, it's me. It's okay. You're alive. I'm here." I reassured her as I picked her out of casket like thing. I quickly placed her on the giant bed. I knelt down next to her and held her hand. I squeezed it for reassurance. After a while she calmed down and sat up. Then tears started to fall down her face. I squeezed it again. "H-he's gone." She muttered and jumped into my arms. I started to pat her hair gently. "It's okay Luce. He'll come back soon." I comforted her. She cried more into my shoulder.

Not so long after that, Lucy's family, the dragons and the Fairy Tail members made it to the room. "Lucy!" Layla and Agnologia ran up to their daughter as I stepped back. "Why did you let him do that?" She cried more. After a bit of parent, daughter bonding time they let go and the dragons surrounded her. "It's okay Lucy. We'll see him again. He's going to visit!" Galaxia cried, sounding like she was telling herself that instead of Luce. Then it was our time. Luna flew at top speed into Luce's chest. "I thought I was gonna lose you Esty! I didn't want you to leave me!" Luna cried. All Luce did was pat her head, looking warmly down on her. Soon, Wendy, Carla, Lily and finally Gajeel went over to her. "Come on Natsu!" Luce smiled at me as the others were in a group hug. I walked over and completed the circle. "Thank you Fairy Tail." Lucy whispered, but we all heard thanks to our dragon's hearing. We all chuckled. "Aww! I can't!" Metalicana ran over and, with his inhuman strength, lifted us I the air as he joined the hug. "We're coming in too." The female dragons squealed and joined us. "I guess I'm in." Igneel chuckled and joined as well. "Come on your highnesses." Galaxia giggled and so did the King and queen. They walked over and joined us.

Lucy's PoV

After that we all headed down stairs. "Are you sure you're gonna be okay, honey?" Mom hugged me as we said good bye. "Mom I'll be fine. As long as I have Fairy Tail with me." I smiled and opened the portal. "Bye Lucy! We'll see you later!" The dragon realm residents called to us as we walked through the portal. Good bye, brother. I'll see you soon. I thought as we arrived. Somehow I thought I saw Zeref sitting in a tree with Mavis. "Good bye sister." His voice echoed through my skull.

When we got to Magnolia I turned around and let the wind blow through my hair. I'll miss you. I close my eyes and listened to the sounds of the wild. "Come on Luce! Everybody's waiting for you!" Natsu calls from behind me. I turn around and run after him. "Wait up guys!"
