Chapter 42: A misunderstanding

Lucy's PoV

I woke up to the smell of bacon, eggs and pancakes floating in from the kitchen. I instantly sat up and noticed that Luna and Happy weren't in my room. I ran into the kitchen to make sure they weren't cooking, I wanted to make sure they weren't going to burn the house down. I sped to my doorway and swing around the door frame and looked at who was in the kitchen. There stood an only in a towel, cooking fire dragon slayer. "Natsu! What are you doing?" I look at his half naked body quizzically. He turns around with a pan and spatula in hand. "Morning Luce! Breakfast is ready, if you want it?" He walks over to the table, where there are four plates. I walk over, hesitantly, to the table, wondering why he was acting like this. "Um.... Morning? What's all this?" I sit down in a chair with food in front of me. "Just something for the best girl in the world." He kisses my cheek. I blush instantly as he walks to his room. "I'm just gonna go get dressed. You go a head and eat." He commands as Luna and Happy walk from the garden to me. "Here you go Lucy! We got these for you!" Happy lifts some picked daisies to me.  "Wow thanks Happy! That's so sweet of you! But why is everybody being so kind to me this morning?" I take the bouquet from him and smell the fresh flowers. "No reason." Happy smiles. "We're going to the guild early, so you eat and we'll see you and Natsu at the guild." Luna tugs on Happy's arm and they walk out of the house. That was weird. I shrug and dig into my breakfast.

Natsu's PoV

I wake up with Luce's face in front of mine. I shoot up and remember what happened last night. I put my hand in my pocket and find the ring box still in there. I sigh in relief and get up. I put the ring box in my room and go to the bathroom to shower before Luce screams at me. When I get out I see Luna and Happy looking in that exact box. "H-hey! Get off of that!" I shout as I run over to them. I snatch the box from them and Luna looks up at me with teary eyes. "Y-you're going to prop-!" Before she can finish her sentence I cover her mouth. "Shhhhh. I don't want Luce to know just yet." I nod to her, indicating that I was going to remove my hand, and she nodded back. "Yay! I'm so excited!" Both exceeds say in unison. "Okay. I've told Lizanna as well. Can you go pick some flowers from the garden to give to her while I make breakfast?" I ask and they sprint to the back. I'm finally gonna do it.

Lucy's PoV

Once we finish breakfast I get dressed, putting some flowers in my hair as it was in a loose plait. Then Natsu and I head to the guild. For some weird reason Natsu wanted me to hold his arm was we walk down the streets of Magnolia, to the guild. I obliged and went with it. When we got there Luna and Happy ran up to me and asked me for my left hand. I thought it was weird, but did it anyway. When they saw it their moods dropped a bit and they went back to where they were sitting. Natsu and I went to sit at a table together. "Maybe we should go on a mission today? It's been awhile." I start getting up when Natsu grabs my arm. "No! I mean, it's okay, we can just relax today, since a lot has been happening over the last couple days." Natsu blushed. Why is he being so jumpy? I look at him suspiciously. "I'm gonna go get a drink." I say, still looking at him in the corner of my eye. "Okay! Be back soon!" He calls after. I sit on the stool and sigh. "Hey Lucy! Want a shake?" She asks I nod and she immediately gives me one. "What's up? You look tired. Did you get enough sleep last night?" She worries over me. "No I'm alright. But I'm not so sure about Natsu. He's been acting weird since this morning, as well as Happy and Luna." I look down at my drink. "What have they been doing?" She asks as she cleans a mug. "Like, Natsu was cooking me breakfast, Luna and Happy picked flowers from our garden for me, and Natsu wanted me to hold on to his arm as we walked down here." I list the things. "Well, it just seems that there doing some nice things for you Lucy. You should take it for granted." She laughs. "I guess. But the they're doing these things, it's like they know something I don't." I sigh again. "Maybe it's like what happened a couple days ago?" She puts a finger to her lip. "Yeah, maybe. We'll just wait and see what happens." I smile and start drinking my milkshake.
