Cara was born as a twin in a tribe in France to a loving mother and a father who filled the leader position in the tribe, a role of great responsibility. From a very young age she always knew there was something different about her and her twin brother. It wasn't in the way that she felt about herself but in the way the people in her tribe stared and talked when they thought she wasn't listening. She also knew everything about the supernatural world from the moment she could understand it, her tribe was knowledgeable in the supernatural world despite not being supernatural themselves. Cara had been born into a family who was of direct descent of the moon shifter clan, the clan's shifter lineage was rumoured to have gone extinct over 150 years before but despite many people's belief that the moon shifter clan would never exist again, her tribe continued to hold on to a promise.

A promise that one day, a set of twins would revive the moon shifter clan and one day reunite the two clans once again to bring the shifter species back to the balance that was supposed to be exist and it was made clear to Cara and her brother Kiel that they were believed to be the ones who would fulfil the promise. Throughout her raising Cara had always been the stronger of the twins, she would enjoy the company of the outdoors while her brother would stay inside due to a fever or the flu. When she was younger she never really gave it a second thought but as the twins grew older Saskiah became a stronger and more independent person whilst Kiel grew weaker and struggled to keep up with his sister. One day a few short weeks before the ritual was set to take place she found her brother amidst a mountain of books and journals, he was reading up on the history of the moon shifter, Cara joined him and together they read of the tales of their ancestors and how the shifters were protectors, to protect the humans from vampires and other supernatural.

When the twins reached maturity they were gathered to the center of the tribe territory to perform a spell, the clan had contacts with a local Fae coven who were willing to assist with the performing of the ritual in exchange for some old grimoires the tribe had collected. As the spell began Cara faced her brother in the centre of the glowing blue ring that surrounded them both and watched him, they had explained before they entered what would happen, she knew there would be pain, and she braced herself for it, but it didn't stop her from reaching for her brother's hand as she felt the first surge pain hit which buckled them both to their knees.

While the pain was immense it was not unbearable for Saskiah but what was unbearable was what she witnessed opposite her, her brother was keeled over and short for breath, he was irresponsive and Cara became panicked, she begged for the Fae to stop the spell and the Fae were listening to her, until her brother spoke up and demanded them to continue. She knew that he knew he would die but she also knew his reason for continuing, the moon shifter clan was their family's legacy and were it not saved then it would die with the history books and though she would have chosen differently for her brother's life, she couldn't disrespect his choice. Cara could do nothing but watch as her brother died in front of her eyes, died to allow her to become a moon shifter and to revive the legacy of the moon shifter clan. The heartbreak of that day still haunts her every day of her life. After the ritual had finished Saskiah was tapped by the moon shifter clan, the first shifter in its existence for over 150 years and that day Cara made a promise herself, a promise to herself and a promise to her brother, she wouldn't allow his sacrifice to be in vain and she wouldn't allow for the clan to reach the same fate as it did all those years ago. Though determined to her cause, Cara lost a little part of herself when her twin brother died and she became untrusting, she didn't want to let anyone get close to her for fear that they would end up with the same fate. She was strong and decisive and wasn't afraid to do what was necessary for the good of the clan but some would describe her as harsh and cold. Upon the realization that the no one further from her tribe was going to be tapped for the clan Saskiah left to travel, to scour to the ends of the earth if necessary, first, she needed to build up her clan, to bring together those whose blood was waiting for her presence to allow them to become who they are and second she needed to hunt down the whereabouts of the sun shifter clan to reunite them once again.

Her travels took her all across Europe, for several years the search was entirely fruitless, but finally the first shifter tap following her own occurred, it was a man named Damon whom she met in Spain, Saskiah struggled with the idea of no longer being alone but she knew that it meant the search was succeeding which gave her the strength to make the decision to travel to America to continue the search.

At present, Cara is the prima of a select few shifters whom she had managed to bring together, though not at full capacity, the moon clan is slowly returning to its rightful place in the world and having caught wind that the sun clan are currently residing in New Elm City, Cara has decided it is past time for their sister clan to be reminded of their history.
