The rabbit was just standing there, nibbling on some leaves like they were lettuce. It was just standing there, not moving, not worried about anything at all in its life. It had its meal, and its senses didn't register any kind of threat to its well being.
It had no idea of the wolf that was silently tracking it, or that it was to be her next meal.
Jessica hadn't shifted back into human form for nearly a month, staying in the form that didn't have to deal with as much thought, letting her sister wolf take over more and more. Soon, the human may disappear forever, leaving only the Wolf. Considering that she hadn't had to deal with her fear of her brother for most of this month, she didn't seem to mind.
Now, she only had to deal with the fact that she hadn't ate in nearly a week now. Her Wolf was nearly begging for Jessica to take back over, but Jessica just couldn't. The Wolf would have to hunt, like she had been doing for these last two years.
However, Sister Wolf was starting to loose her touch. She was too worried over her Human half to do her job right.
Now, though, with the rabbit before her, she was crouching, getting closer with every minuet, another inch here, another inch there. She was ready to spring. She was ready to finally eat.
Another beast of some sort stepped on a twig, and the rabbit bolted.
Sister Wolf did her best, sprinting after the rabbit, but it had evolved to flee, using it's short, fast hops to get as far away from the wolf as possible. The race for life and death was on, and only one could be the victor.
A brush caught the wolf in the face right before the rabbit ducked into it's hole, slowing the wolf down, and ending the chase for the victor. The rabbit would live to see another day.
The Wolf may not.
As it crawled to a trail in the forest, it knew that its days were numbered. That last bit of energy she had used to try to catch the rabbit had done it in for her. She was finished, and knew there was nothing left for her to do. With an apology to her Human, the Wolf slept, knowing that the fight was finally over.
As she shifted back into the Human form, hot tears sprung to her eyes. She was so weak that the ability to stand was nearly impossible. All she wanted to do was lay there and die. She couldn't even make any noise, except for the choked sob that was coming from her throat as her tears ran free and unchecked.
Her cloths were ratty, they hadn't been changed in two years. Her hair was such a mess that it couldn't be told what color it was. With smears of different berries staining it, dirt and twigs adorning it, it could be anything from blue, to blonde, to black. The dirt on her face hadn't been washed in nearly two months, turning the beautiful woman into something that a cat could have drug into the house. With how much strength she had left, a house cat could very well win a fight with her, anyway.
Jessica Stampp was dying, and there was nothing sh
Silently flying through the sky, keeping from sight, the red winged angel of hope went on her never ending path. Alone and without care. She hadn't seen Gedrick in so long and she missed him. Her wings stroked the air as she flew. She had no Govern, no "king" or "lord" known to her. A fabrication of chance was what the girl was. She went through the sky when something struck her heart, causing her to stop and hover in the air. Dawn's hair grasped at her face as she looked around. That twang.
Closing her eyes her body vanished and turned into a streak of light. Following that inner souls cry she could feel. What she knew was this souls cry was a wolf. Something she was attached to. As the light went through the sky and towards the source Dawn seemed to be sleeping.
