Lucky trotted through the tall green grasses. The summer breeze blowed through her long wispy brown and white fur. The dog bared her long ivories as a old badger lumbered by. It's white striped head shook in anger. But the smaller animal just grunted and went on its way. Lucky padded across the glade, the tips of the grasses brushed her shoulders. The melodic song of a meadow lark reached her ears. Even the birds remembered the great quake. She shivered as memories flooded her mind. Shaking the gruesome thoughts from her head like water from her ears.suddenly Lucky halted. The musky yet sweet scent of a border reached her nostrils. Lucky grinned. Perfect! She was tired of being a loner. She needed some dog to take care for. Throwing back her head and the treeline she let out a harmonic howl. In the middle a few yips and bays broke out of her throat. Finishing, she shook out her fur. The lark had stopped singing and all was silent save for the breeze rippling the grasses.
-dodge a bullet, get hit by a train and survive. That's what it means to be Lucky-
The land was so green, and Alarice had just claimed it as hers! Not even a whole day into being alpha, the German Shepherd heard the cry of a dog. Sighing, she knew her duties had started. Trotting forward, she leapt over a fallen tree, before spotting the brown and white girl. Sniffing the air, she smiled and waved her banner, approaching in a friendly manner. Bi colored orbs looked her over, before speaking and stopping before her.
" I am Alphess Alarice. Alphess of this pack. Why have you come child? Whom are you?"
Alarice showed no signs of aggression, just curiosity towards what could be her first follower. Flicking her banner, she kept her head higher than the collie's, just to prove who was Alpha here.
Lucky's sharp senses picked up the sharp herbal scent of another dog. Her brown doe eyes swept over the white figure of a German Shepard. Lucky dipper her pretty head in respect. "I am Lucky." She pricked her ears up. "I have come to request entrance into this pack." Lucky stood, and raised her head to meet the Alphess' bi colored eyes. She was almost as tall as the leader. "Do you have any available positions for such as I?" She dug her paws into the grass. The air was warm and dry, crackling over her pelt like reeds. The meadow behind her rippled like the waves of the ocean.
Alarice watched the young female dip her head, and it made her smile even wider. Waving her banner, she listened to Lucky, as she named herself, and her purpose for coming to her borders. Flicking her audits, she thought of a way to place the female in this pack.
Well, Lucky, why don't you tell me about yourself. What skills can you offer the Savage Pack?
the only entrance into the pack was to have skills worth messing with. This female was bred to herd, but maybe she could scout? Or something. Alarice kept her bi hued orbs on the female's brown ones, making sure to check for the truth.
Lucky gazed calmly into the Alphess' eyes. She seemed so at peace. With a flick of her ears and a twitch of her tail she spoke.
"I have been told I am a great leader and have much know how. I can fight with enough strength to protect my pack and am feurcely loyal to those who earn it."
With that she gazed into the dogs bi colored orbs.
"I can hunt for my pack and protect them when needed. I can judge true character easily. I am a jack if all trades, the decision is yours."
Lucky bowed her head and lashed her plume like tail gently. If it was her choice she would be beta, but she knew that the Alphas word is law, and as a Loner, she had no say in it.
The white shepherd listened happily, this collie would make a great beta female to her. Smiling, she licked her maw and nodded to the female, as she showed more and more respect. She was impressing her already, making her feel warm, she had no threat.
Ah. Well, i believe i have a Beta female position open. As this position is the next highest below alpha, i would hold you to a higher respect. You will be expected of meeting strangers, bringing them to me. You must trust your instincts, if they seem dangerous, bring them to me anyway. If something ails me, you will be held responsible for the pack. Can you handle this? Beta Female is a strong rank, i will trust you with my life.
Looking to the female, she watched, wondering when she would accept this offer.
Luckys eyes blazed with hope. How could this be happening. Her dream coming true just like that! Her tail wagged fiercely.
"I pledge my love, my loyalty, and my life to you and this pack. I take up this position as the greatest if honors and wish to please you in any way possible."
Lucky grinned and rose to her paws.
Alarice laughed lightly as the female became ecstatic. Nodding at her, she stood to her paws and spoke in a authoritative tone.
I will see you later then, Lucky. You may begin your duties. This also includes recruiting members. Go see the world, let everyone know of our great pack.
Alarice bowed her head and then turned, walking back to the dens. She trusted Lucky to get this done, for now, she had duties of her own. White paws put more and more distance between the two, happy to not be alone in her pack lands anymore. BIrds sang, the coming of fall was soon, and she was loving the cooling weather already
Lucky calmed down and stood noblely. She bowed and held her wispy banner high. She was beta. The beta of the Savage!"Goodbye Alarice! I will come back with many ready to please at my side."She barked as the Alphess walked off."You won't regret this." She added. With that she whirled around, her longer fur dancing in the breeze, and loped through the grasses with wolf-like ease. The warm earth melting under pounding paws. Her pink tongue lolled out in happiness. Her brown and white mottled ears shot forward, catching the continuing sound of the lark. Wildflowers sent sweet scents in the summer wind towards her. The pretty dog bounded through the shimmering waves of green. Soon she dissdpeared on the horizon.
