Yulia Volkov grew up in Sunny California, and although her name made her sound like an innocent gem, she was anything but. She started off the normal girl, growing up in a well off family and getting top grades in school. She had been on both the dance teams and the science team growing up, excelling in these two areas. She was happy. Until half way through her school years. Her parents had always pushed her to be the best she could be, but soon they started to push her to be better than she could be. It was at that point she started to drift away from her best friend, Jessalyn, who she had grown up with all the way through school. But suddenly, she had other problems that overshadowed this to a certain extent.
They made her run laps around the block until her legs were ready to fall off. They paid for private kickboxing lessons and even got private tutors for maths and science. Kenzie had no idea why they had suddenly started to push her, but they were relentless. And then they started disappearing on work trips for months at a time. She couldn't understand it. And yet, they paid to make sure she was still sticking to all the training they were putting her through.

And so, Kenzie continued, doing as she was told. Her absentee parents upset her and began to affect her in a way that she didn't think would ever shift. She barely saw them and when she did, they spent most of their time training her and testing her. That was, until the day that they revealed the whole supernatural world to her. They were training her to be the protector of the humans in places where the innocents had no one to help them. Graduating high school with top grades, she began to travel with them for a while to get experience fighting the supernatural in the real world and gain the knowledge about them.

In this, she discovered that her parents had had many children over the years in similar positions. She had an older brother who was now skilled in the trade of human protection but spent most of his time being a teacher, not wanting the life that had been chosen for him. Needless to say that he was her parent's biggest disappointment. She also had two younger sisters. One that was a couple of years behind her and one that was still only 13, only just starting to be trained. This one didn't even know what their parents were up to yet or that they were sisters. It made Kenzie very sad to see these siblings who had no idea of her existence, just like she had with them. However, it also gave her a hard resolve to fight hard to protect her siblings.

So, between the ages of 18 to 20, she worked hard to become the best at what she did. She cut off contact from her parents, starting to work independently from them. She had never been close to them anyway and although she wanted to know her siblings, whilst they were too young, she couldn't get in contact with them without her parent's permission. And as for her older brother, she wouldn't know how to start getting in contact with him now. He had changed his name since he was younger and she had only seen him in photos. He didn't even know of his younger siblings.

And with that, Kenzie started to travel from town to town, helping people all over with supernatural problems and helping to create alliances in places where it had otherwise been a delicate living situation between the species. Even though she couldn't always help everyone successfully, she was good at what she did and could read a situation well to know what was best for them. So soon enough, people were contacting her, asking for help.

It wasn't long before Riley Carabello got in contact with her. Of course, Kenzie had heard of Evermore City, a place that was a hub of supernatural activity. She had been in and out for minor things but tended to avoid it due to the system in place and the bubblings of war rumours she had heard. She was one person and didn't want to interrupt the Organisation that was in place. But when Riley approached her with an offer, she was intrigued.

They met a few times, Riley constantly trying to convince Kenzie to join them, but she had spent so much time working alone that she wasn't sure. But she had the experience needed, she had been training for this line of work nearly her whole life. And so, they started to form a fragile alliance, Riley starting to show her all the things in the Organisation, all the hidden details and secrets.

And then, one day, Kenzie was in the City, another meeting as the agreement was getting stronger and stronger, when the comet hit. It was scary as the town went into chaos. And suddenly, through it all, Kenzie found she could sense when people weren't human. She could tell who the supernatural were. She couldn't differ the species, but she could sense them. This changed everything. The world of the supernatural and the Organisation was revealed to this town and suddenly, Kenzie was doubting whether this was the right decision for her.

She went back to her former habits, travelling from place to place and she didn't hear from Riley for a while. But then, the ambassador started tracking her and working with her once more. She soon agreed to come back to the City and join as Riley's second in command. If she showed up to the ball with the tattoo on the inside of her wrist, then it would be an indication to the ambassador that Kenzie was on her side and officially a part of the Organisation.

But when she got there, she couldn't find the Ambassador. Not until she heard a commotion outside. Running out, she saw Riley, dead on the ground. She had been murdered. Mackenzie was the only one Riley had passed the secrets of the Organisation on to. It was up to her to take on the role of the Ambassador. No one else could. But what state had Riley left it in for Kenzie?
