INSTAR DIVINER
Feel that Fire
Cole took a step back from the wall and looked at her handy work. It had been a few weeks since her and her brother Caiden had moved in to the condo and she had finally finished decorating. Looking at the wall she smiled at the pictures that hung there. She didn't have much for family photos yet nor did she really have anything of her or Caiden with friends but that would all come eventually. The photos were simple but she liked them. Al had looked up different ways to hang them online and had finally decided on an arrangement she liked. Now a photo of her and Caiden, photos of both their dogs, and photos of all four of them hung just above the sectional couch.
Letting a small sigh escape her lips she looked around the rest of the living room and into the kitchen as well. Everything had finally fallen together and she loved the way the house looked, it finally felt like home. Samson and Merlin trotted into the room from wherever they had been playing and looked up at her with their big brown eyes. Al chuckled and bent down to pet both puppies. Turning, she opened the door to the massive patio that overlooked the city of Evermore. The dogs joined her outside and did their business as the Diviner enjoyed the view. It was a view she would never grow tired of and was pretty much the whole reason she had purchased the home.
Looking at the watch that hung off her delicate wrist, bright blue orbs widened in surprise at the time. The afternoon had flown by without her even realizing it. Heading up to her bedroom, Al changed in to a pair of shorts and a tank top. Grabbing her Ipod she headed out the door, locking it behind her. Even after an afternoon of decorating the condo she still felt fidgety and wanted to do something. A run would do her good.
Heading to the elevator she climbed in and waited until it reached the lobby. Al waved to the doorman as she left the building. Putting in her ear buds she stood on the street a moment flipping through songs before deciding on one she liked. Putting her blonde locks in a pony-tail she turned and started running down the street. It was yet another beautiful day in Evermore. Ever since summer had hit the days had been bright, hot, and beautiful and Al loved every minute of it.
Running was something Aaliyah had only recently taken up. She loved the feeling of a long run with good music playing. Before Quinn had come for her and her brother, Al had never had a chance or even been allowed to do something like go for a real run. The massive d'Fierro mansion where she had been held for decades had a lot of things, including
a gym, but that simply wasn't the same as a run outside in the woods. Leaving the city behind her, Al had a good pace going when she finally reached the forest paths that she loved to run in. A thick covering of trees provided shade on either side of the path and a small river ran parallel with the path as well. The sun had been beating down as she ran and sweat poured freely as she jogged. The shade was an appreciated relief.
After an hour or so Al finally slowed to a walk. Breathing heavily she walked for a few minutes until her heart slowed. The trees around her had begun to thin out and she could see a nice spot along the river up ahead where she could relax. Dropping down to the grass she gazed at the river flowing freely and watched the sunshine bounce off the ripples. Lying back on the grass she allowed the sun to dry the sweat from her skin. Closing her eyes she relaxed and enjoyed the feel of the heat on her skin...
