"We can't both be wrong."

Despite her tender age and lack of experience, Rey always manages to keep her composure, the calmness of her features remains undisturbed.

Luke Skywalker hasn't known her for long, but this is one of the many features that he admires about her. The girl is a natural-born leader, but simultaneously an amazing trainee. She makes a much better apprentice than his nephew ever did- or quite frankly, ever will; she doesn't question his methods, she wholly follows his commands, and most of all, he had never seen the Lightness inside of her waver.

Not one single time.

Five months of training has turned her into a very powerful Jedi. When she had come to him, she was already so strong- even though she had been untrained with the force, even though she had been so utterly confused- she was definitely one of the strongest warriors Luke had ever laid eyes on. Back then she had decades of training to catch up on, family history to learn about..

But now?

Now, the Dark side better be prepared.

It hurt him to think this- someone of his own flesh and blood was part of the Dark side. Whenever he thinks of Ben, he still feels a little pang of guilt deep in his heart- he can't help but think that it was him, Luke, that failed the young boy and pushed him into the depth of the Darkness.

"Master Luke?" Rey's big eyes are trained on Luke, he hasn't spoken for a while.

She recognises this silence now, she had learned without ever being told that Luke sometimes slips into his memories, and it is almost impossible to pull him back out of his thoughts.

What his nephew had done had damaged him, deeply, and Rey knows this

What his nephew had done had damaged him, deeply, and Rey knows this. She knows that the creature in a mask that had almost taken her life away from her was once a sweet, innocent boy; she also knows that that same innocent boy still holds a special place in Luke's heart.

Night after night, she and her master had remained awake, feeling the Force vibrate in every living thing surrounding them. They learned to trust each other- Luke and her- mostly because neither of them had anyone left.

Rey talked about her family- they'll come back to her one day.

Luke talked about his family- he'll be back to them one day.

Rey eats the last few berries in her basket, patiently waiting for Luke to snap out of his trance. She looks at the scenery; an endless ocean, an endless sky. She could never stop marvelling at all the blueness around her- the desolate planet she had grown up on was filled with nothing but dirt and heat. Dirt and heat and despair.

"You're right," Luke says suddenly, and Rey diverts her full attention to him. "We both felt it. Ben's leader has reached his maximum power. They're planning an attack as we speak." Even after all this time, his voice still cracks a little as he forces himself to say his nephew's name.
