"Hey!" He exclaimed, sitting up quickly. "Did he say anything new?"

I wanted to lie to him so badly, to spare him from the truth. He deserved to know, however, so I decided to be upfront with him. I threw my purse down next to the bed and sat down heavily.

"Not new, really, but I made sense of it this time."

He watched me expectantly. "Go on."

I told the story as Frank had told it to me, leaving nothing out. I told him about the 'test' and how he'd have been killed if October hadn't done what she did. Now she was expected to be Eddie's wife. I told him of the rape as well, and how October didn't even know about it.

Dominic studied his hands for a long time before speaking. "So you're telling me that October gave up her life for that scumbag."

"What? No..."

"Yes she did, just so that douche could live, she has to endure daily rape and God knows what else..."

"Would you rather she let him die and have to live with that on her conscience?"

"Honestly, yes. I know that makes me sound like a monster, but I don't give a fuck. At least we'd have her,"

To offset the emotion running rampant in the room I spoke in a low voice. "No, we wouldn't, Dominic. They were never going to let her go. At least this way, he could make it out alive."

"Listen to yourself, Julianne, she's your family. Who would you rather see alive? October or Frank?" He spat Frank's name.

"It's October of course. But I wouldn't want him to die either. It's not like she's dead, Dom. She's still out there somewhere! It's just a matter of time until they find her or she escapes."

"Not likely. They're hiding, and if they're brainwashing her like that dipshit said, then she won't even try to escape. At first she'll be too afraid, but after a while she won't even remember us."

We were both silent as the gravity of his words sunk in. Dominic was shaking his head. "I can't believe she picked him over us. Over our son," He said bitterly.

I could see that I was wasting my time trying to talk him out of this opinion, so I grabbed my purse and stood up.

"Where are you going?"

"To my room. I need to get some sleep." The suite Gerard had gotten us had two adjoining bedrooms, thank God, so I could escape him.

"Wait," He said, patting the bed. "Sit down. That wasn't the only thing I wanted to talk to you about."

I cringed as I turned back. "Dom..."

"No, it's not like that. I won't jump on you again, I promise."

I sat down gingerly on the very edge of the bed. "What?"

"Will you at least look at me?"

Sighing heavily, I turned to fully face him. "Is that better?"

"Yeah, alright," He looked completely uncomfortable. "I... I wanted to apologize for earlier. I should never have done that, and I don't know why I did." He looked at me expectantly.

"Okay," I said simply.

"Okay? That's it? You don't want to bitch me out, or slap me or anything?"

I smiled and shook my head. "You might have started it, but I'm just as guilty as you are. We both know that what we did was wrong."

"I don't know what the hell came over me."

Fumbling around with my purse, I mumbled, "I still can't believe it even happened."
